Be a rebel with design!

Don't be scared

Does every room in your home seem to be "safe"? Meaning: each wall is painted light neutrals or white? All furniture is neutral, even accent "jewelry" (aka: pillows, vases, ect...) Is "safe"? Well then, let's spice it up!

Hmmm... hold on- you're having second thoughts. I know, even I do when it comes to designing my own house. I can help others all day long, but not myself! Maybe because I'm way too picky! Ok, back to your room.

One step at a time. The walls should resemble how you want the room to feel. For a spiced up kitchen that brings life and energy, try reds or oranges. For example: in my personal space I only painted orange as my backsplash and accented with orange through my artwork, candles and other accents. For one-of-a kind artwork,  shop at www.cliv.etsy.com .

Another way to "live on the edge" is paint one of the rooms in your home several shades darker than your "comfort" level. Another example in my own personal design is my office. I really wanted to make the space feel warm, like I was being wrapped in a cozy throw blanket. So I painted all my walls Burnt Sienna by Behr, the color itself accomplished the mood I was looking for. The cozy, warm feel just from painting walls, then to make my artwork and accents pop and compliment my walls, I used greens and oranges.

So, step out of your comfort zone and don't be scared with design!
