Books are no longer entertainment?

user

I saw a blog from, I'm guessing, one of the Shine staff that said how you could be featured. Some of the tips were if you needed help with something or if you wanted to review something. So I went under the Entertainment links but found that there is no category for books. Are movies, tv shows, celebrities and music our only form of entertainment? Is there no longer any room for those of us that prefer to curl up with a good book than watch another show of Tila Tequila trying to find someone to love? This blog, though, is not about ranting about the lack of attention given to books, it's to review a book I just read.

I'm not much for reading, non-New York Best Selling authors, because I've discovered that if they haven't had at least one best selling book, it's usually for a reason. So I took a chance with this book because I found no trace of the book or the author having been a best seller. Anyway, the book is called "The Fungus" by Harry Adam Knight. It's about a plague that was created when a scientist was looking for a way to end world hunger. The plague mutates any kind of fungus, including mushrooms. So everything ends up covered in a thing coat of fungus, including humans. This was a well written book, funny in some point and a bit creepy in most of it, but that's what made it good. It was like a mix of Resident Evil and 28 days later, except the "zombies" were all covered in a layer of fuzzy fungus. Although a bit of fungal knowledge is useful, much of how the fungus works was explained, but it does make it easier to know a little. So if you're into science fiction and post-apocalyptic, humans are going to be demise of the human race, then I'd totally recommend this book.
