Congratulations to my mom, Ruth, who received an award Sunday for
her decades of service as her church treasurer. My mom is a
very special person. Strong, stable and smart. She has
always been there for me even though it was not easy raising
someone with Bi-Polar disorder which I was diagnosed with at 17
years old...I am now almost 56. Then it was called manic-depressive
disorder. When I got into some legal trouble several years
ago as a result of a manic episode, my Mom was there to help pick
up the pieces and get the help I needed. I look forward to
seeing her in a few weeks. Strong caring people are key in
helping people with a mental illness. It can be very
frightening for the suffering party, and a calm steady hand means
so much.
