Do Not Be Deceived:
Matthew 24:3-5 “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the
disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall
these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of
the end of the world?4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take
heed that no man deceive you.5For many shall come in my name,
saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
“
The word ‘deceived’ in this verse refers to ‘planao’ in
the original Greek, which means:
to (properly cause to) roam (from safety, truth, or
virtue) :- go astray, deceive, err, seduce, wander, be out of the
way. {Strong’s #4105}
This must be very significant; because the first thing Jesus warned
was ‘do not be deceived’ and again in the next verse He repeats
that many ‘shall deceive many’.
The Lord put it on my heart to do a Bible study
on this word ‘deceive’ a while ago. Today I’ve set aside all my
‘chores’ and ‘Martha’ tasks {Luke 10:48}. I’ve decided to sit at
Jesus’ feet and listen to His word; His written Word, the Bible.
You see, these days the ‘buzz’ words are ‘new’ and
‘fresh’, as if God needs to tell us anything apart from the Bible,
His holy, infallible word. So, if you desire to eat
the ‘meat’ of the Word of God with me, then, read on..
.
The same word for ‘deceive’ used in the above verses, is also used
in the following Scriptures.
This is a simple Bible study using Strong’s
Concordance and helpful modern technology {I’m not getting any
younger and my hands do get tired-:-) }.
Lord, may this writing glorify You and be
a source to warn those who truly love you, or anyone else,
and are to those worthy to be called ‘Christians’ which means
‘little Christs’.
Planao: Strong’s #4105: ‘To cause to roam from safety, truth, or
virtue; go astray, deceive, err, seduce, wander, be out of the
way.”

Wow! The Lord warns us a lot, especially in Revelations- the last
book of the Bible- about deception in the last days before He comes
back to earth. Most people don't think about this and don't
think about dying. But the truth is that we all die.
And, contrary to popular beliefs, we either go to Heaven or
Hell. We will all stand before God and be judged
according to how we lived our lives here on earth; did we live for
Jesus or not? We won't have time to give our opinions, etc.
The truth is God created everyone and His standard
which determines our eternal destiny is the Bible.
So, read the Bible; believe it and obey unless you just want to
'go to hell'. Oh, contrary to another popular
opinion, you won't be able to even see your friends in hell and
it won't be 'fun' but there will be 'weeping and
wailing and gnashing of teeth'. Hell is a place of eternal
torment; 'where the worm does not die and the fire is not
quenched'. But, Jesus loved us so much that He paid the price
for sin- just doing something wrong once,etc.- for
all of us. Our choice is to trust Him for our salvation and
experience His love and peace forever, or to reject Him and
experience His wrath forever. God loves you; today is the day of
salvation. If you have a Bible- not a paraphrased one but a King
James or New King James- read Psalm 51 and make it a
prayer to the Lord. Then live for Him; 'work out your salvation
with fear and trembling'. Also read Matthew 24,
and Revelations 21. I pray I see you in Heaven and this writing is
not in vain. I know it is not because God's word never goes out
void {Isaiah 55:11}
