Do Not Open Til Christmas.............and other traditions !!!!!

TODAY I have spent the day putting away all of my Thanksgiving treasures and I am in the process of dragging out all of my Christmas decorations.  My mind is still reeling from Thanksgiving and the amount of preparation and now Christmas is peeking around the corner.  I will go at full speed for the next 3 weeks to get it right.

I would love to know of your Christmas or Other December celebration traditions.

I make most of my Thank You gifts for my customers.  Making wreaths is one of my favorite things to do.  I make about 60 over the next couple of weeks and deliver them to customers.

THEN I start making candies and cookies, my favorite being the corn flake wreath cookie above.  What are your favorite Christmas cookies or candies?............ I love learning of creative ideas.

The night before Christmas has always been my favorite part of the Holiday.  Friends come by and the kids are aglow with the anticipation of Santa arriving.  I don't know who started the idea of opening a present on Christmas Eve but it is absolutely not allowed in my home.

            IS THAT A COKE??????

        Do you believe????

         TRADITIONS....................

Hab-- Once again, I am salivating. Beautiful pictures. Love the wreath cookies.

On Christmas eve, we have a tradition of making homemade pizza after 4:30 Mass, (turkey dinner on Christmas day) then reading the Bible story of the birth of Jesus (I think it's Luke's version), oldest to youngest siblings read a small passage each, in front of a roaring fire. Then, we each say a toast, with egg nog. Some get sentimental, I love that part. It reminds me of what's important, family, friends and the love that we share. It reminds me of how incredibly blessed I am. I could care less about the presents at Christmas. I love the love, the warmth, the music, and of course-- the food!!

    Olive juice!!

Then christmas day mom alway's had the job of preparing the turkey so then we would go out to grandma's house. It was like a rembrant christmas cause of all the snow and the old farm house and big farm all the aut's,uncle's and cousin's were there and we would exchang and open gift's and have a big marvelous dinner. It was really great when we got snowed in and stayed over night. That was some of my best memorie's of growing up.

You are killing me.lol Those pictures are mouth watering. Everytime I see prime rib I start slobbering.haha

I have a huge Irish family and ever since I was little we have a Christmas party now it is so big we have to rent a hall and Santa Claus comes and hands out presents to all the kids.

My tradition I have started awhile back is I paint ornaments for all my nieces and nephews so that when they get older they can have thier own collection.

I love all the Christmas songs especially by Bing Crosby and Bette Midler. From a Distance always makes me sigh. Great Post! I hope you have a joyous season, peace.

Jules: Great story. I also make may own ornaments. For the kids I put the year that they will graduate from High School. This is good encouragement for them to graduate in that year.

I make jarred delights for everyone. Cocoa, specialty coffees, candies, herb mixes, jams and flavored butters. I put them in jars that I decorate and put a sticker on them.

    Thanks for stopping by!

My family had a lot of wonderful traditions until my parents passed away. We would all drive up north to My ex- MIL’s for Christmas eve. Leave early. Come home. Get ready for Santa. Then Christmas morning, we would drive to My Brother’s MIL’s for a LONG Christmas day, into the night celebration, out in the country where we have to ride golf carts to get around.

We did it again on New Year’s at My Brother’s MIL’s. I used to get scared when the older kids tried to take the baby in the golf carts at night with very little moonlight to see. I got over it.

Our Traditions have been put on hold for a few years. I am looking forward to many Christmas’ with My boys family when they grow up.

    Hab,

During the month of December we bake cookies, make fudge, make sopapillas and empanaditas,(my mom's recipe for sweet meat turnovers) to give out as presents. When my kids were young they would help, now my grandson is the assistant! LOL

We usually try to make tamales, if there is enough help.

We always watch the movie "Christmas Story" where Ralphie gets his tongue stuck on a pole, with the grandkids. They love that movie!

Christmas eve we drink hot chocolate and eat cookies, while the grandkids try to con me into letting them open "just 1 gift." LOL I usually read "The Night Before Christmas," and read about the birth of Christ.

I do the same things as my mother and father did during this time, with the exception of watching "Christmas Story."

On Christmas day we have a big meal sharing with anybody that wants to come over. We always have an extra place set for those who come over.
