It has been a few months since I last graduated from an elearning class about computer graphics illustration. It was really a great experience and I am now a firm believer in the power of elearning tools. But little did I know that this elearning experience would lead me to a confused and interesting part of my life.

I have been out of the job before. It was such a hard time trying to get hired especially now that the economy is really a bust. A few months after I took my graphic arts online classes, I suddenly found myself out of the job. The architectural company I had worked for was hit heavily by the loan mortgage bubble burst. And what made it worse was that its main base of operations was in California. For those who are not aware, California was once well known for its strong industry of real estate. Of course, after the bad debt from unpaid mortgages kept on pilling up because of the irresponsible and moderated lending of banks, the loan mortgage bubble burst and this bubble was primarily located in California and Nevada where the real estate development companies were all busy investing and spending their hard earned money.

Pretty soon, our architectural firm lost eighty percent of its employees. I was the second to the last draftsman to get canned. It was a good run. At least I was not one of the first removed. That meant that they somewhat valued me as a worker compared to all those others. Or maybe it was just because those others had bigger salaries. In any case, I was just consoling myself anyway. In truth, I was worried to death because I was paying for the mortgage of my car. If I had to default, it would be such a big loss for me.

So I searched the yellow pages looking for any job I could get. All of them either paid too low or were not up my field. I then started to go online and try my luck looking for the perfect job for me there. It was the smartest thing I ever did. I soon found out about online job markets and the great demand for graphic artists. I was just in a forum and suddenly I made contact with a client who needed a graphic artists. From then on, I worked at home online. My reputation online grew. I was able to pay for all my expenses. And this is all thanks to the elearning tools which taught me this productive skill.
