Enjoy your life no matter how bad you think you got it cause someone else is having it worse. (Read and you'll see why)

Yesterday while celebrating my 19th birthday, my mom recieved a frightning phone call from one of her closest friends. The friend told her that her son, who ever since his parents divorced years ago,has been getting himself in a  lot of trouble both at home and at school. Hanging out with the wrong people and possibly doing drugs. All that took a huge toll on him yesterday when he and a couple of friends went for a drive drugged and wasted with alcohol. They were driving at 120 mi per hr when the car rolled over seriousely injuring him and his friends. The driver walked away with nothing. Completely unharmed. The doctor said that they have no chose but to amputate one if not both of his legs.(the son) My heart sanked to my knees. He will be confined to a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Life is TOO short to be taken granted. Live your life to it's fullest. DREAM BIG DREAMS. You never know when your life will take a change for the worst. Make smart decisions.

    Prayers for the family.

I have been raising three young men. They have many friends and we have gone through some of the same type horrendous situations.

Nobody can leave my home without reading a sign that hangs on my door:

If you have been drinking......do not drive.

Your car is a weapon.....do not speed.

A wheel chair is much more confining than a seat belt!!!!!

    Again.....prayers for the families.

Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself.

I like what Habanero said - a wheelchair is more confining than a seatbelt. Good response for when someone in your car refuses to buckle up. I usually just tell them they'll have to pay the fine if we get stopped. Sick of argueing with them. Sometimes I just say buckle up or get out.

I am so sorry that your friends family is going through this. All my hopes and prayers that they recover and miracles occur for the boy. (If they havent had to amputate yet, I am praying that they dont.)

Hugs to you and thank you so much of the reminder that we shouldnt wallow in our own pain.

It seems to me they brought that on to themselves, being in a vehicle going 120 mph. I find it hard to feel sorry for people like that who have no reguard for their own safty and for others who they my had injured or killed too.

I can already tell that I will be disliked by the other members of this blog...but that's ok. And my prayers certainly go out to him and his family, it's a terrible thing that he and them now have to go thru, a re-adjustment to their lives. However, bad things happen to good people everyday, and we all know someone who had something bad happen to them, that they didn't even see coming. As a reminder, this boy MADE A CHOICE to get in this car and as for his current activies of drugs and trouble, I'm sure his parents have warned him a hundred times that bad things will happen. He chose to ignore this as I'm sure he thought it wouldn't happen to him. Most of us already know how short life can be and how it can all change in an instant. I'm not sure at 19 that you do. In ten years you will though, and you will have made good and bad decisions in those years. And you will realize while this is a tragedy and wouldn't want it to happen to anyone ever, life is choices. And for some, they weren't given a choice. I feel bad for those people more.

I know that's right my mom just passed away (june 2009) 3 months before her 50th b-day to the day.... then one of my very closest friends had just turned 25 and died 1 month after his b-day. He passed away the 14th of this month...... my prayers go to the family, but at least they are still alive.....
