Entertainment Weekly picks the women of “The View” as smartest people in TV

The ladies from “The View.” Hmm. So… Sherri Shepherd who thinks the world is flat and Elisabeth Hasselbeck who shrieks and whines like a child with daily, unsubstantiated arguments are amongst the wisest people we’re watching? How frightening.

If you think about it, the whole idea of the "25 Smartest People in TV" is kind of joke at this point. Who else is competing for the title, Heidi and Spencer of “The Hills”? Oh, sorry, they weren’t picked, but Tyra freaking Banks was #23. Ranked higher, we might add, than Jon Stewart who was #24. Another strange choice? Jason Kilar, the CEO of Hulu, the site where you can watch thousands of shows, which may actually kill live television.

A few good calls were Glenn Close for her role on “Damages” (if you’re not watching you should be) and J.J. Abrams for “LOST” and “Fringe” (anyone who with concepts like those must be slightly genius) and the obvious but awesome Lorne Michaels who revived “Saturday Night Live” and Tina Fey.

But really, we must dismiss the whole EW list because we're so hung up on their first pick, the women of “The View.” What do you think about their picks? Well, I have to admire them for bringing politics into daytime TV and therefore to the SAHMs who really needed to be educated and inspired to learn more about the last election. At the very least, they helped conquer election apathy. So, yes, they deserve a place on the list. I'm not so sure I would include them in list of smart people, but they did a good job making people of all political persuasions more aware.

    Pic is pretty cool.

I enjoyed The View at the very beginning, after they had so many changes I kind of started to drift away...

Hasselbeck is the only one speaking from fact, not fiction like the other women. Barbara Walters is such a disappointment and not deserving of any acclaim. She no longer is a credit to broadcast journalism. Joy (sour puss) Behr is just a lot of hot air and can't stand anybody who disagrees with her. Whoopie needs to go back and read the scripts to her "Nun" movies and react accordingly. I don't know the other woman so she gets a pass.

The women of The View are entitled to their opinions but not deserving of titles that they are not qualified to wear. What is wrong with the women of this nation that they believe everything that is said on The View and Oprah??? Hitler lied so much that the people started believing the lies. Is that what we want in this country? I pray not!!!

    This is quite funny actually,,,

wonder who they paid off for this title?

It would be nice if they actually had at least one more conservative on their panel so Elisabeth wouldn't have to fight off the rest of the vipers!

Barbara WAWa is a brown nose suck up and this political season showed her real colors,,i think Elisabeth should walk off the set and find a show that deserves her intelligence,,the rest of the panel is so liberal opinionated it makes me wanna puke!
