I posted a blog entry here last week, and notified friends and
family that a blog entry was posted; however, on my arrival here
today at the local public library, I learned that this entry was
never posted. It was possible that I waited too late to post
this; my time at the public access computer was nearly completed;
and my entry disappeared when I signed off the computer.
Whatever. So here I am again, attempting to post another
entry.
Last week's entry concerned the problems I encountered at the
extended stay hotel where I have resided. I have lived at
this location for over two years; I lived at another location for
about a year and a half.
It hasn't been a bad experience; most of the problems I've
encountered occured at the current location. I've had
considerable problems with the phone line; the phone would
disconnect during phone conversations, or I would be totally unable
to access the phone line. I've tried using a different phone,
but that proved to be useless. For the past few weeks I've
had little difficulty with the phone.
When one problem disappears, another arrives to takes its
place.
Last weekend I discovered, upon checking the door lock, that if I
left the premises, I would be locked out on my return. I did
not leave my room for the remainder of the weekend.
Why? The number for assistance for after-hours was not the
number it was; (I learned this on Monday, when I discussed this
problem with management). Maintenance is not available on
weekends, so I found myself spending 24 dull, dull hours in my
room. Fortunately I had a long novel to read; if it wasn't
for this, 24 hours would have seemed like 24 years.
I had seen no notices posted in regards to the new number change
for after hours assistance. Hmmmm.....I guess I'm the last
person to find out.
The problem with cockroaches has been annoying. I've used a
fogger every couple of weeks for six weeks, and those things will
resist almost anything. The Orkin person was supposed to
fumigate the room, but she had "forgotten" about me; she said this
the moment I opened the door. It's sooo nice to be
"forgotten"; she was going to spray the room, but I felt that if I
gave the room another 2 hour "fog" I would be better off; the
sprays that maintance and the Orkin person have given to the room
has had little effect.
It's been two weeks since I've used Hot Shot "fogger" in the room,
and I will have to use this again next week. This was never a
problem at this extended stay hotel until six weeks ago, or at
least, in my room. I had learned of an infestation two floors
before several months previous to the infestation in my room.
Apparently the treatment, if any had been applied, had not worked,
or the clever buggers crawled upwards to escape the treatment given
to the apartment on the first floor.
This shouldn't be a problem. Management reduced the rent a
few months ago; and if this means that I'm going to have to live
with bugs, I wish the rent had not been reduced.
I hope that when I return to the premises that I won't be locked
out again.
Oh, just last night, a visitor pounded on my door in the late hours
of the evening (at 11:00 pm or so). This woman was as large,
or larger than I am, and when I didn't answer the sharp knock on
the door, she pounded on the door; so loudly that it would wake the
dead. She complained of freezing. I didn't know
this woman from Eve; I ended up calling the after hour
assistance number, as she didn't respond to what I was telling her;
that she wasn't the resident of this room. She might have
received some wrong information from someone claiming to live in
this room. Whatever the cause, pounding on the door at that
hour, and shouting in a tone of voice that would shatter the
eardrums of Atilla the Hun, the whole situation was a irritating to
end to Halloween.
That's the news for now.
