Dead at age 50 2009

"I Am the Lord your God you shall have no other gods before Me." we all know this verse, yet we continue to worship man from Elvis to the now late Michael Jackson. “False gods, interpreted literally, is a phrase meaning a cult image or object considered idolatrous from the perspective of the speaker."

In the time of Moses when they fled and went the mount to receive God's Law, "Moses (Hebrew) was the Hebrew liberator, prophet and lawgiver, who according to the Bible freed the Hebrew slaves from Egypt, and at Mount Sinai, provided the them with the Mosaic Law, or Torah, including the Ten Commandment” While Moses was in the mount for 40 days and 40 nights, despite being granted their freedom and witnessing the miracles, the Hebrew people became restless and began to doubt God and worship "The Golden Calf". Which asked the question why do we worship idols after witnessing God Works the Sun, Trees, Mountains, etc? But it seem that’s not enough for man, we constantly look for idols to worship, and exalt them: Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Princess Diane, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and John Lennon Farrah Fawcett to name a few.

In many respects they were considered “gods” among men, with thousand upon thousands websites, tributes and cult-like followings, but they are all dead, their lives are over, and only the one true God will determine where they will spend eternity. When we try to make gods from man the result is the same they die (most of the time tragically). If we continue to put faith in the “gods” of the world we will always be empty, lost and disappointed, and it will only lead to death. We also exalt our processions car, house and money. We seem to forget none of those last. I just went to a funeral of a family member and we had to clean her house filled jewelry, money and all the possessions a man could want but when she died those things were just things, it’s often said “You can’t take it with you”, that true for everything, but salvation. In God’s eyes we’re all the same sinner in need of his grace, love and forgiveness. We must place our faith in the Jesus who is the only God, who has triumphed over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. It also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His three-year ministry. If He had not risen from the dead, if He had merely died and not been resurrected, He would have been considered just another teacher or Rabbi. However, His resurrection changed all that and gave final and irrefutable proof that He was really the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all.

What do all the "worldly" icons of this world have in common, they are all dead, buried, gone. What have they really done for you. Nothing. As we grieve the lost another talented performer don’t seek comfort from the cover of your favorite magazine whose job is to produce a new "god" every week. But know that true comfort only comes from the Comforter, our living God. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." Jesus died for our sins so that to could live forever, we will not find that kind of selfless, sacrificial love anywhere else. Jesus Christ's tomb is empty! He is lives and seated at the right hand of the One True God! He will never leaves us or forsake us, and that is worthy our praise and worship.

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
