feeling in the air

its a feeling known to most of us
a lingering storm ready to give
the voices become harsh & cold
as if the serenity of love they could not hold
tears fall, fists fly, loud screams of "why, why, why?!"
flames burning underneath the flesh
which is fed by each breathe
weakness & fatigue overpower the soul
emotions flying out of control
confusion & inability to grasp only widen the gap
as the pain subsides & rationality is regained
you realized that feeling in the air was the end
