Friends with the Ex?

What are your thoughts on remaining friends with an ex boyfriend? I have remained friends with my ex-hus as well as most of my ex-boyfriends. I have one ex-bf that claims to want to be friends, but I suspect he's got other motives. We have been good friends for about 10 years (dating briefly in there, bad timing so broke off, remained good friends), but I am thinking of disconnecting the friendship at this point, esp. b/c of my suspicions - my current beau and i have a wonderful relationship - I don't want to jeopardize anything with my BF by a friendship w/ an ex. It would be a loss to lose this friend as he's been there for me for several major events (but in a friend capacity). And, the current BF knows that once a relationship is over with me, I will never go back. I think I have my own answer after reading this over - I wouldn't like it if the roles were reversed.
But, what's your opinion ?

I can relate to you I am going through a situation where I just moved to the DC area about 8 months ago and I started dating this guy about 3 months ago and he became my bestfriend above all things, and now we are no longer together but struggling to be friends. When we are together we get along great and we laugh alot plus there is this attraction between us thats amazing. The problem is hes not ready for a relationship yet due to some events in his life. Should I continue to be his friend and support him even though it kills me that we are apart or should I just let him go and move on with my life? I'm having a really hard time getting over him. Any advice would be so welcome i'm having a really hard time.
