Getting into shape...

user

I am sure I am only one of millions of people with similar blogs but here we go...

At age 21 i have never really committed to a strict diet or exercise program. I have never felt the need. I am completely happy with my size and shape. As most people my age do I have been reflecting on the next big thing I want to do wih my life. I have decided becoming healthy would be a great way to start. I can't say i have made this decision overnight. I have been walking more, and eating better since the beginning of the year, and have lost 30lbs as a result. At the beginning of the year i weighed in at 260lbs. Now being down to 230 i would like to make the commitment of running a marathon. This is a huge goal for somone my size. I am still not going to be following any fad diets, or exerise programs. I am going to follow what my body tells me to.

So the first and hardest part is going to be shaping up my diet. Keeping track of what i eat in the first place is going to be a challange. Anyone that knows me can testify that i am not the most organized person. That however is the goal for this week. I will keep a food journal to see where I am at. I can't really change what I am eating until I start paying attention to what I am already doing right?

As far as exercise goes, I need to increase the miles I am walking. The weather here in AZ is finally going to be in my favor with walking everywhere. My current goal is walking ten miles a week. Walking to and from work is two miles each way. I am sure my dog would appriciate more walks, and who wouldn't enjoy a couple laps around the mall?

Well those are my goals for this week. I can't really say that i am officially starting this week, but i am hopefully moving in the right direction. The reason for having this blog is to keep track of my progess. The pounds are an obvious indicator I am doing good, but I also have a bad memory. I wouldn't be able to tell you alot of how I accomplished what I did.

Every time I exercise I tell myself that I am doing the best possible thing for my overall well being, along with eating well. Incorporating spirituality into the equation has given me the desire to do this everyday. To be honest with you....I have have never stuck to much of anything in my whole life. Eating well and exercising helps us in being the best quality human beings and gives us the motivation to be the best of service to others too.

I am about to go for a long walk now....kind of dragging my feet a little. Motivation is coming slowly by not letting myself talk myself out of it. It is NOT an option...it's my medicine and daily reprieve.

Sounds like your doing well.....you have A LOT to be proud of!
