Growing Up...

Growing up, there were so many things I saw and did.
The '80s and the music.
I remember when bands first started.
I remember when MTV debut.
A lot of new music and the concept of music videos took over.
Good bye to standard radio as the only way to hear music.
Walk-mans and boom boxes, became another way to listen to music.
Then the introduction to CDs, then music really changed for me.
Growing up during those years.
Was an experience I will not forget.
Many world events happened during those years.
I watch the TV as many things in the world changed.
Even though I was a child during those years.
The things I saw would change my life forever.
Growing up was so much easier during those years.
Not many worries, not many bad things going on in my life.
As time pasted, I grew from a child to a teen.
The '90s, were a trip, I will definitely not forget.
Being a skater and a grunger, was fun during high school.

Watching the beginning of bands like; Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
So much good music, so little time to hear it all.
I watch as MTV changed and reality shows began to play on it.
The world saw a war and things were never the same.
It was sad how the world was changing so fast, as I grew up.
Many TV shows ended and new ones began.
Growing up during the '90s was fun for me.
One sad event took place during the '90s.
I lost the one person that cared for me the most.
Her memory is kept in my heart.
To hear that she had left, for eternal peace.
Made me sad, cause on that day, my life was never the same.
My teen years gone.
I watch as a new millennium was coming.
I watched and listen to people panic about it.
The internet became a household staple.
It ruled people, it became an addiction for some.
To others, it became a way to keep in touch with family and friends.
The new millennium came and the world was still here.
The world changed again and things seem to get worst.
A sad event took place, 9/11 and another war was fought.
So many lives lost and once again, it forever changed my life.
Now as I sit writing poetry.
I look back on my life and wonder if I wasted my life in any way.
Growing up, seemed so hard way back when.
Now, I wish I could go back and change a few things.
Life for me will never be the same.
My growing up, is over and done.
Now as an adult, I wonder what is left to learn from this world.
Can I ever find truth, the truth I sought for many years.
Growing up is hard, but in the end, it gives life experiences to learn from.

Excellent post! I too sometimes reminisce on my younger years and how things have changed since then. I also wonder what if I would have taken a different path, how different would life have been. I also wish that somethings never took place, but aah!I have similar thoughts about events and situations and see it as part of life needing changes for growth. Thanks for this revelation! Best!

Ah,the memories from our youth! Great times that we hopefully have learned from.

Not so great times that we survived!
