So, I went to my first concert, night out, in 15 years this monday. At the local jazz club. It was wonderful. Hanna Elmqvist & band. They did mostly stuff from her new album, 'Ferry Yard Road. Here is a link to her page, where you can hear snippets from this great album. Splendid.
Bjorn Jansson on sax was another great surprise. He certainly knows his jazz. Quoting, hinting, linking new material to tradition and classics. Being a lover of Parker I so enjoyed hearing those figures and lines. Mmmm.
It was a concert in many ways celebrating another great jazz voice, Anita O Day. And when they went off searching for the nightingale which sang at Berkley square I got everything I wanted from an evening out. Yup Peace & Jazz
