Kanye interrupts concert to say stop being homophobic!
editor
While performing his sold out Glow in the Dark concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, Kanye West took a moment out of his set to denounce homophobia and anti-gay slurs. We love that he took it there, because the intense homophobia that exists, particularly in the hip-hop community, needs to be stopped and Kanye is in a position to really influence young people. Read his rant below:
"Open your minds. Be accepting of different people and let people be who they are. You know how many people came to me calling me gay cause I wear my jeans the fresh way? Or because I said hey, dude, how you gonna say ' f-- ' right in front of a gay dude's face and act like that's OK? That s--- is disrespectful. Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supposed to stay ten feet away. It should be time to break out of the intuitions that I was sayin', the stereotypes, or the fear, the backlash that I would get if you don't believe in what I believe in, acceptin' people for who they are…they're very talented and if they do something special in the world and they're discriminated. I've flown across the world y'all, and I've come back here to tell you—open your minds and live a happier life…"
Do you agree with Kanye? [

Yes...
Many times, we are so busy judging, blaming, hating, just being so focused on negativity , that if we put that much effort into being happy, complimentary, loving, accepting, harmonious, we may notice that our perspective is just brighter looking for the positive - - especially because we are no longer judging anyone - - others, and particularly ourselves.

I agree, I may not agree with being gay but the choice is up to the individual and it's up to the individual to live their life the way they want and makes them happy. I may have a child that comes home and tells me they are in a same sex relationship and my love will not change for them nor will I try and be the one to tell them how wrong they are. It amazes me how accepting America has become of gay rights and it took decades for black rights and still fighting this day.

I am so glad a 'tough guy' has spoken out like this. The world has enough problems to deal with. Why should someone be hated for who they love when it's not hurting anyone. In a time like this I completely agree with the song 'What the world needs now is love', not hate. People need to accept each other for their differences and work together to make a better place for this and future generations. Hating someone because of their sexuality is like hating someone because of their skin color. All of my gay friends have told me that it is not a choice, and that their world would be much easier if they weren't gay, but that's not who they were born to be. Acceptance is what the world needs now.

I would be inclined to go out and buy a Kanye West record now just to support him. It's about time someone in the hip-hop community called to their fans to just get over themselves.

I normally don't like Kanye, but in this case he's right. We need to open our minds and our hearts. Just because you don't believe in something doesn't give you the right to judge other people. Live and let live.
