Kanye interrupts concert to say stop being homophobic!
editor
While performing his sold out Glow in the Dark concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, Kanye West took a moment out of his set to denounce homophobia and anti-gay slurs. We love that he took it there, because the intense homophobia that exists, particularly in the hip-hop community, needs to be stopped and Kanye is in a position to really influence young people. Read his rant below:
"Open your minds. Be accepting of different people and let people be who they are. You know how many people came to me calling me gay cause I wear my jeans the fresh way? Or because I said hey, dude, how you gonna say ' f-- ' right in front of a gay dude's face and act like that's OK? That s--- is disrespectful. Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supposed to stay ten feet away. It should be time to break out of the intuitions that I was sayin', the stereotypes, or the fear, the backlash that I would get if you don't believe in what I believe in, acceptin' people for who they are…they're very talented and if they do something special in the world and they're discriminated. I've flown across the world y'all, and I've come back here to tell you—open your minds and live a happier life…"
Do you agree with Kanye? [

I totally agree with Kanye. I was just watching Black Men Reveled last night, the hosts Doug and Ryan Stewart (former football players) went ballistic when one of there gay guest on the show made a comment about one of potentially having gay qualities. The guest that was on the show was an idiot anyway and nobody really took him serious, but Doug and Ryan totally lost it. You would think that grown educated men would have an open mind.

I was totally turned off by the whole thinking he's god and his bad attitude when a fellow artist won a music award over him. But he has made a few really awesome stands like this one for instance and that he chooses not to wear bling, realizing that a lot of diamonds in the market come from conflicted regions in Africa.
Good for him!!

I agree with Bro. Kanye. Let's stop worrying about what other people are doing and how they act, and let's focus on what WE need to do to better OURSELVES! Peace, to my hometown brother.

i suspect kanye might be gay this is the first time that he has said something about this gay thing he was on mtv and me and my cousin were like what is he REALLY trying to say? i think he might be i am not homophobic but i think he is like preparing people so when he decides to come out his fans and support will still be there but that could be a theory.

Good job, Kanye! I've always thought something just wasn't right in the head with that man, but it sounds like he's got a brain in there after all. Maybe his "going-against-the-grain" thing will work for him. I had brilliant, respected employee of mine who happened to be black tell me that her worst fear for her two-year-old son was that he might grow up to be gay. I mentioned, "What if he became physically disabled in an accident... wouldn't that we worse?" She actually responded, "Where I come from, death would be more acceptable." I almost passed out. I think it is so important that artists use their fame to get the message out (whatever message that may be) since the little bloggers like myself just don't make news.
Rant: CHANGE HAS TO (and always will) HAPPEN, even if it goes against mainstream thinking or religious views. The human spirit is forever changing and evolving into an "equality" mindset and those with their head stuck in the proverbial "not-the way-my-daddy-woulda-done-it" sand are going to be left-behind sore-losers. And for the religious right? The Bible is a wonderful book -- I read it all the time -- but you just can't believe EVERYTHING you read.

He needs to look at himself and his racist behavior before he starts preaching.
