Kurt Cobain rolls over in his grave... twice

This hurts.

It has been well documented in photos that Kurt Cobain was a wearer of Converse sneakers. In fact, as a grungy, flannel wearing fan girl, I bought a pair of One Stars because just because he wore them.

Now, 14 years after his death, Converse is issuing a series of Kurt Cobain Converse to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. Well... happy birthday, Converse, but this is so horrible and wrong. I can’t really see any fan of Nirvana—older or younger—who would buy these. It feels sacrilegious!

What's next? Rivers Cuomo Buddy Holly glasses at LensCrafter? Robert Smith Cover Girl eye liner? To all corporations everywhere, please try not to kill all of my fond adolescent memories.

Also: writing "punk rock is freedom" in faux Sharpie marker is SO NOT PUNK ROCK.

the end. [The Daily Swarm]

LOL, this may be even worse. Target is selling women's slip-on shoes called One Stars as well (and yes they're really Converse):

And as punk rock as I like to think I am, I definitely bought these because they were so freaking cute.
