The latest in the media involving former Republican VP
nominee Alaska's governor Sarah Palin
who is possibly one of the most popular and controversial political leader sin the world since her appearance on the McCain ticket in the 2008 Presidential Election, involves wolves, bears and animal activist actress Ashley Judd.
A well respected actress and animal lover, Judd, appears in a new Internet video for Defenders of Wildlife, which targets not only the state's predator control program but also one of its chief supporters, none other than Governor Palin. Palin defends the program as being scientifically based and essential to sustaining moose and caribou populations for Alaska subsistence hunters. These aerial killings of the wolves are a primary focal point in the video and therefore, definitely not for the squeamish. Animal lovers at large are likely to be horrifed over the thought that anyone would ever choose to brutally slay any animal, regardless of their over population. This report is vaguely similar to last summer's incident involving actress Hayden Panitierre who is a well known animal rights advocate and her protests against the slaying of dolphins for profit. Palin has yet to make any recent official statements in response to Judd's comments but it is more than likely only a matter of time before the public gets the governor's latest take on this issue, which has many infuriated and sickened. According to the Defenders of Wildlife, the Alaska program has led to the slaying of more than 800 wolves since it began five years ago. Despite such reports, there are still those like The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who side with Palin as being innocent of such hideous accusations although there is little to merit any support for an individual who often seems adamant about supporting every member of the GOP, regardless of whether they are in the right or even clearly wrong. Unfortunately some individuals are incapable of being objective even if it means that in the end, someone will be hurt or principles will be compromised. For others, it remains difficult not to recall Palin herself, calling attention to the fact that she enjoys hunting, during the presidential campaign last year. Palin is definitely not a shrinking violet by any means but that does not make her a hate monger who gets her kicks by sanctioning the killing of wildlife by sharp shooters in the Alaskan skies. Until Palin or her people decide to contact the media to either further support their stance on humane wildlife aerial killing, only then will the American public know the full truth behind the aerial wolf killings depicted in the Defenders of Wildlife video, narrated by Judd. Seeing how often Palin has been in the spotlight since the presidential election ended, there is little doubt that, we will have to wait forever than the next media blitz to find out.
