Look for More Winter Holiday Promotions in July This Year as Business Owners Struggle

It is July, but many business owners are starting now on the winter holiday shopping season to boost sales.

 

Christmas in July” promotions are not new, but in the economic downturn they are taking on a new importance.

 

More companies are connecting with consumers online and SBTV.com journalists talked with Neal Creighton of Ratepoint for some tips on early holiday promotions; “Now is the time to update your business website and encourage online feedback and reviews,” suggests Creighton.  “Consumers love to see the un-edited reviews of their peers when making purchase decisions,” added Creighton.  He also suggests entrepreneurs begin now with e-mail news letters to connect with consumers while they are thinking about the upcoming shopping season.

Starting this weekend several national retailers will begin discounting toys at prices usually expected during the holiday season.  Next week, in store promotions at Toys R US will invite children and their parents for holiday-themed games and crafts.  Several national retailers are emphasizing layaway programs to help budget minded consumers.
