Love and Let Die book 1 - The Nightmare at Camp Ch. 7

~Star of the
Show~

Here it was! The night of nights, the time of life, the TALENT
SHOW!
Her heart skipped what seemed to be more than one beat. She had to
perform in front of Lauren AND a live audience!! This was like...
her debut. But she didn't think of it that way. She thought
about Lauren
only.

But she was very scared. She saw the seats were full, there were
even parents who had to stand in the back. This was going to be
near impossible. How, honestly, could she do this? She was sweating
even with the tiny audience of the audition, and what would she
look like up there on the stage tonight, the
show? Would a puddle form beneath her? The odds
were pretty tight. She looked up at the stars and just prayed that
she would at least be ok, and she stepped into the kindergarten
classrooms to wait for her
turn.

It
came too fast. It seemed like only 2 seconds she got to breathe,
before she was called up. "Come on, Ginny,"
Monica said. She obeyed. As soon as she got backstage, she began to
shake-even more than she had at the auditions. She suddenly found
that she really needed to pee... her heart bounded like never
before. It was time. The Talent Show. Here we
go.
As soon as the number before them ended, she walked up the stairs,
and Monica followed. The audience turned quiet and still. The two
stood there, staring at the huge amount of people staring directly
at them. And the music started, all too soon. Ginny almost jumped,
but caught herself. She looked at Monica, and back to the audience.
Here... we...
go...!
"Zip-a-dee-do-da,
zip-a-dee-ay! My, oh my, what a wonderful day!" They sang.
As nervous as they were, which was REALLY nervous, they kept on.
And then, the song was over, and even before the music had ended,
there was a HUGE round of applause, and people even stood up-at
least, that's what Ginny thought. Her face beamed. It
felt... good, actually! It felt amazing to be noticed by all these
people, to be thought of now as the 'girl with golden
hair'. But thank goodness it's over!
she thought. I don't think I could
stand one more minute of this... So she stalked off the
stairs, and Monica did the same. After they were finally off the
stage, she high-fived Monica and whispered to herself,
YES!!

When the show was finally over, she skipped merrily to
her dad's car, him following closely. "Should I
skip too?" he joked and tried it. Ginny gasped, amusement
sparkling in her eyes. "Dad, don't do that in
public!" she laughed. "What, am I too
old to
skip?"
Finally
they got to the car, and Ginny looked at the car next to it and
recognized it. But who's car was it? That's when
she felt pressure on her back. She saw to delicate arms wrap around
her. "You were great today." The angelic voice
spoke. It was Lauren. "You really were. Bye," she
cooed, and she smiled. Then she walked, no, more
floated, back to her car, Ginny still frozen
in her place. That's whose car it was! It was
Lauren's! Ginny's father nodded to
Lauren's. Her father was already in the car as Ginny walked
slowly to her car.

Wow...
Lauren Green.
