Me and my Shadow! And our super cool hats!

Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw, showed up to the London Premiere wearing a bold, garden inspired Phillip Treacy hat that included two butterflies.

Mitchell and I went to everythingunderthesun-Mart yesterday and we did not get stares because of my *autistic sons' meltdown!

We were noticed for our savvy SJP hat style. Mitchell wore the ever popular and never out of style policeman hat with a ladybug wings on his back and I wore a little straw hat with a band of bold pinks and blue stripes.

WELL, I had to pick something fun; Mitchell already had on the ladybug wings!

FUN and SASSY! That is me and my shadow!

*Mitchell has meltdowns if he is over stimulated and busy stores just send him to the moon and the poor little guy can't get back to earth for quite some time.

Wow I thought my son had the worst taste in clothes.

    - Red shirt that say "Mom Rules",army camo pants that are tapered at ankles (still notsure how they got in his drawer, red high tops.

    - Gray sweatpant, a too small blue striped long john shirt, cowboy belt, colorful Batman socks and red high tops

    - Blue t-shirt with a bird on it, navy blue athletic shorts, khaki Deigo vest, a clip on striped tie (maroon, gold, blue, colorful orange striped socks and of coure red high tops.

My son is 5 and if he can dress himself I let him wear it, as much as it embarrasses me andhis 7 year old brother.

I think our sons are kindred spirits!

    Hey:

My five year old dresses the same way. He is in his camo pants with whatever kind of shirt that feels right and his old holy shoes (the first pair that I have found that he actually likes) but they have had it and I took him to pick out new ones and of course he will not wear them now. So I know the cloths thing. I used to get so upset and mad because he would pitch these fits every morning about his cloths even down to socks (he only has a certain kind of socks he will wear) but now I have learned to let him pick it out and let's go. Hey it is not hurting anyone and he is happy so you are happy.

Question: About the autism (hope I spelled it right) How did you know or what were your son's symptoms? I am curious because my son does some of the same things you had said. I have told the docs about his fits and alot of other issues and they just pass it off as that is just him but I would hate myself if it was something more I could be checking into for his happiness.

I love it! When my 17 year-old was four he wouldn't leave the house without his Superman cape. Before that, he went everywhere with a Tigger tail pinned to his pants. My daughter insisted on tucking dresses into leggings, wearing two different colored socks and three headbands -- at the same time (now she's a 15 year-old total fashionista). My littlet boy would leave the house dressed by his sister -- with multiple sparkly scrunchies sticking out of the top of his head (but they matched the fingernail polish she put on his hands, so that was okay). As my kids got older, they learned the social rules on their own. For kids with disabilities, you will have enough challenges teaching the mandatory social battles that he will have to learn. And did you see that goofy Daisy Head Maizie hat SJP wore the other day? Your son should be on the red carpet with that get-up! Good for you for letting him wear what he likes! I'm always so impressed when I see parents who have the confidence to let their kids be kids when it comes to the things that aren't hurting anyone, but are important to the child. You rock!

    Dear dyer_angie,

I knew there was something wrong with Mitchell at age 2 ... he started out sayin' da da and ma ma and puppy like all little babies do and then at about age of 2 it all stopped .... NOTHING, no language. And he had a vacant look on his face; he also did not respond to my love or hugs ... it was heartbreaking!

My advice is take him to a neurologist.

You can email me sometime if you want to .... my email address is kFeinNicholson@yahoo.com

Good luck and follow through is important. I know this is scary for you. I lived it and I really can help if you want me to. If nothing else I have a big shoulder you can lean on! BIG HUG!

I have been reading more about autism, and there is a lot to learn, many people , parents blame the vaccinations. what do you think about that?

I think autism has everything to do with environmental poisoning!

You know like the chems in our carpets, cleaners, paint you name it ... toxins!

Mitchell was showing signs of autism way before he had the shots.
