Move it or lose it, confidence that is. Life of an American mom in Italy.

Today I was thinking about transportation. While living in Michigan we had our own car. When you needed to get up and go, you did just that. I loved driving. I was in control, turned on the radio, and went where I wanted to go. 
 
Now life in Milan Italy. I have yet to drive. We do not own a car. For the most part I do not mind. I really do like walking around and looking at shops, or going to the park. When we need to get somewhere faster, or at least on time, then we take the bus. Well the bus still freaks me out, and this city is unfamiliar to me. SO I only ride the bus when the DH is with me, and tells me where we are going. And when to get off.  My brother in law does own a car. We occasionally borrow it. But it is a stick shift, and again I have no idea where I am going.  So the DH always drives.
 
My confidence in myself regarding transportation is fizzleing out. How can I survive if I am afraid to get up and go? I am really getting the urge to grab my purse and my daughter. Get a bus ticket , and just go. We will end up lost I am sure. But the urge is there to overcome this fear. I hate being afraid. Especially of something so simple. I hate being so dependant on my husband.  This is not what I am used to. 
 
My dream. TO have a motorcycle. Nothing too big of course. But to get on and feel the wind. Not really sure where I would put my daughter though. haha. I guess she will have to stay home with daddy.
