My Take on Abortion

I was asked recently what my stance on abortion is since it is definitely a major problem in the U.S. So I thought I'd be as straightforward as I could possibly be. I am completely against it. It is murder since life begins at conception; it only takes a bit of common sense to figure that one out. In fact, between 40 and 50 million unborn and just born babies have been killed in the U.S. alone since 1973 because of this most hateful act against other human beings. On top of this, abortion is purported to be a billion dollar business in the U.S., that is, the genocide of babies causes abortionists to line their pockets with the equivalent of blood repetitiously (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=73563).

This atrocity began to take place when the Supreme Court, through Roe v. Wade, took away the right of the states to decide whether this murderous act should be legal or not, since the pro-abortionists couldn't win the states over on their own. By so doing, the Supreme Court defied the Constitution of the U.S., the very document it was supposed to be upholding. For the 10th amendment says, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states, respectively, or to the people." (For further argument see http://www.ncc-1776.org/tle2002/libe170-20020422-08.html). In other words, these children have not only been murdered but it has all been done illegally though protected by U.S. law enforcement agencies and U.S. political leaders. The reason is that people have been too afraid to stand up to what is seen as the highest court in the land, not taking into consideration that God's Law is higher than it, the very God the Supreme Court was supposed to have been answering to the entire time:

To return America to its foundations, citizens must remind themselves how our unique Declaration of Independence makes the United States different from any other nation in history. The Declaration proclaims that rights come not from a king, the government or a Constitution, but from God. Additionally, it states that a government was to be formed with the consent of the governed to make our God-given rights secure.

As a result, I do not believe God has turned a blind eye to this abomination. I see it as a form of ancient idol worship rearing its ugly head in a new form in that, during ancient times, this idol worship was highlighted by baby/child sacrifices to certain evil supernatural beings who called themselves gods. The gods that these children are being sacrificed to in modern society are image/fame and greed since people seem to think getting a leg up, socially and economically, is more important than the life of a baby. Colossians 3:5-6 says regarding greed,

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming (NIV).

And Psalm 106:35-39 says this with regard to how God feels about offering child sacrifices to any god, which He says are demons:

But they have mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. They defiled themselves by wheat they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves. (NIV)

Moreover, I have been an active pro-lifer since I was 16 and received the Lord. It was then that I started actually to value life even to the point where, when I became pregnant at the age of 17 by my fiance (can't get the little flip above the "e" to go, sorry), I didn't kill my baby through abortion despite evil intense pressure to do so. Before the pregnancy, my current husband and I were going to be married nine months later and had been engaged to each other for about eight months, he being the ONLY person with whom I'd been with in "that" way. Since then, our oldest son has grown into a beautiful and intelligent productive member of society and, since then, my husband and I have been married for 25 years. This hideous act of killing my baby for the demons of image and greed was kept from happening solely because of God's gracious intervention by getting to me with His Spirit before then and moving others to speak to me about this subject matter before it ever became an issue for me. So when people use the inane argument against me that talking about this problem with people is futile because it is a "heart" matter and one which only God's Spirit can get to, I have to chuckle: We are living vessels of God to move His will through, using us in order to get to other people for His purpose, changing their minds and hearts just as mine was.

For before I received the Lord, though I'd never had sex with anyone, I was staunchly for abortion rights, oddly enough. I would honestly break out in a cold sweat anytime the pro-lifers would have the huge rallies that they have in front of significant political structures or would win politically in any way. But if I had to tell you exactly "why, I would have to say that I would have absolutely no idea except that I was so self-centered and "me thinking" that I couldn't imagine anyone having any kind of say in my life. So that those who angrily comment on any pro-life blog or site are so freaked about it does not surprise me, though it does seem laughable now in retrospect and oddly brings about feelings of nostalgia. *Smiles*

What I didn't realize back then was that it wasn't my life being dealt with there. The unborn are complete separate entities from their mothers, even having a different supply of blood, which is why many children can be born from mothers who have raging cases of AIDS and yet will not have even have contracted HIV from them. And even as of recently, babies as young as only 21 weeks can survive once delivered. That's only four months that a woman has to carry a baby for the little one to survive apart from the mother (http://www.nbc6.net/health/11056409/detail.html [click on the video after getting to that page] or http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/846743/worlds_youngest_miracle_baby_beats_the_odds/index.html?source=r_health or http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/156236/worlds_youngest_premature_baby_survives.html?cat=5).

So when people comment on pro-life posts, saying things like "I don't personally believe in abortion, but I believe in the God-given choice to do what I deem as sinful or not regardless of what anyone else thinks," I get angry. To me, that argument is not logical in any sense of the word. That's like saying I personally would never go on a killing spree and eat human beings I kill, like some of the mass murderers of our recent past have done, but it should be legal because people are entitled to their God-given choice/right to sin. My question is to them why then have any laws at all about rape; theft; fraud; abuse; violence; or murder at all, for that matter, since all people should have their choice/right to sin regardless of what anyone else thinks? Also why should we even have any law-enforcement agencies or political leaders at all to keep tabs on what is right and wrong since, hey, we should ought just to be able to sin against people whenever we feel like it; it's our God-given right, right? Why in the world, then, would anyone look down on The Holocaust and punish those poor disgusting nazis (not capitalized on purpose) for just exercising their free right to kill (sin) against millions upon millions of Jews and true Christians. No one ever states this obvious line of thought. It's too horrible even to mention, as if killing the most innocent of the innocent is any different at all, their innocent blood constantly crying out to God--as righteous/innocent Abel's did against Cain--while these same people go on and on about caring for the poor (as they should) though these innocent tiny beings are the very poorest of the poor in all of the world. But no one cares for them, just the mothers right to kill them...for among other reasons to protect the babies from abuse? Excuse me? Killing is the ultimate form of abuse! One abortionist mother actually saying that she aborted her baby in fear that her boyfriend would torture their baby because he beat her. PERHAPS TAKING THE ROUTE OF TURNING HIM INTO THE POLICE AND ACTUALLY LEAVING HIM WOULD HAVE BEEN CONDUCIVE TO THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF TAKING IT A STEP FURTHER AND KILLING THE BABY, PUTTING ONE'S OWN LIFE ON THE LINE FOR THE BABY INSTEAD OF VICE VERSA. This caring for one set of poor over another and looking to the "rights" of the mother over a baby is such a double standard, such hypocrisy! To bring this point home further, I wasn't aware that between 40 and 50 million and more have died in the U.S. because of starvation from being poor. Oh...that's right, they haven't!

Some commenter may argue that murdering the unborn is nothing like murdering the born, so it is like comparing apples and oranges and is then taking this subject too far. So says that one without any research to speak of though I pointed out that a baby has its own blood supply and can survive on its own even sometimes as early as its mother being four months along (http://www.nbc6.net/health/11056409/detail.html [click on the video after getting to the page] or http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/846743/worlds_youngest_miracle_baby_beats_the_odds/index.html?source=r_health or http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/156236/worlds_youngest_premature_baby_survives.html?cat=5).

Moreover, God's Word says something completely different than that erroneous opinion, according to Jeremiah 1:5:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. (NIV)

And Psalm 139:13-16 says:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (NIV)

Furthermore, John the Baptist was such a living being before he was born while residing in his mother Elizabeth's womb that, when Mary merely entered Elizabeth's earshot, John leaped for joy and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit because of Jesus' living unborn presence in Mary's womb, according to Luke 1:39-45:

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"
(NIV)

Keeping these passages in mind, that argument above is like saying killing a short person is OK but not a tall person. How ridiculous!

Some may argue what about women who get raped or children who are impregnated by an incestuous act or a child that is going to be born with retardation or deformation or a woman who will die from having the baby? All of this was taken care of under the old code of law before abortion was legalized with the exception of retardation and deformation. All a woman had to do was take her case to court. And today, if a woman goes to a hospital right after a rape, where I come from, her doctors don't even ask the patient if they can do a dnc. They just do it to prevent pregnancy since no conception has taken place yet. I know this because my youngest daughter-in-law was raped. As far as retardation or deformation goes, ask any parent who has such a child if he/she thinks it would have been better to have killed this child before it was born. The resounding answer will be, no.

Also doctors have been known to make mistakes in saying a child would be born retarded or deformed. I went to school with a girl in middle school and high school whose parents had been told that she would be born retarded because her mother contracted German measles while she was pregnant with her. This girl, named Tracey, was one of the smartest most beautiful women I have ever met in my life. And to think others like her have been killed before they were born merely because of some fear that an incompetent doctor imposed on their parents is more than a travesty. And get this: She was the one who got in my face about how abortion should be illegal, herself being case in point.

So then some people may argue but what about the women who end up killing themselves or end up being killed because of "back-alley" abortions? So let me get this straight: Let's say Wesley Alan Dodd is still alive and is found dying in a back-alley because the knife he was using while chopping up his child victim accidentally sliced into his side, causing him to bleed to death. Yet I'm supposed to feel sad and sorry for him and pass laws so that it is completely legal for him and others like him to be killing children, even with the help of professional killers--no less trained in schools to do so--so that he/they won't end up nearly killing himself/themselves again. Give me a break! The idea that I am supposed to be merciful to murderers by helping them murder is the most stupid answer to the argument ever!!!!!!!!!! The answer instead would be to teach prevention, that is, teach people not to be promiscuous, teach abstinence and not to kill.

So what it boils down to is that a bunch of Wesley Alan Dodd's want to kill their unborn, just being born, and just born babies because they don't want to take responsibility for their own actions, valuing image and money above innocent human life, regardless of what God has to say about it. So I am for making abortion illegal, knowing that locks are for honest people and thus less people will be killed. Where murder is illegal, people are more likely not to murder. That's exactly what laws are made for, to keep people from harming one another and themselves.

Even though I have pointed out that to think "choice to sin" is absolutely illogical when dealing with law, some demented folks think that people who vote on the single issue of abortion regarding the presidency are ludicrous. They couldn't be more in error. Take for example anyone dating another. If he/she were to find out that the other picks his/her nose in public without remorse, it would be a deal breaker. This is not even to mention what it would be like if someone dating another found out he/she had purposefully and in a premeditating manner killed another or believed that hiring the hit on another person was completely OK. I don't know one person who would do otherwise than to dump that person hard and fast. Then how much more should we not choose a candidate over the issue of how he/she values life? It's a far cry from picking one's nose in public, but it brings the point home that one issue, especially one of such weight and importance as valuing life, can and should define how a person votes in this election and others.

After all is said and done, I praise Jesus that someone was brave enough to get in my face about it when I was young before I committed this unspeakable act and wrote it off as if it were my "choice" to eliminate this unwanted tissue from my body, just as the Jews were seen by their hideous and most evil enemy, the nazis. My hope is that my rant gets in the face of some youth, who was like me, before it's too late. This one may become angry at me for supposedly "imposing" on their alleged "rights" and may even break out in cold sweat as I did and even lash out at me in complete hatred, as a result. But there may be an actual life or better yet lives I will be taking part in saving at some later date be it through this post or encouraging others to vote the way of pro-life. So it's worth it to me.

Victoria, I am with you all the way on this topic. You read what I posted on my page.

Abortion = murder. Life is life, whether a single cell or a fully grown body.

Roe v. Wade protects your constitutional rights. And you lost me with your first Bible reference. Religion can have everything to do with your personal decisions, but should have absolutely nothing to do with the way our government treats us.

Betty and Beth, show me WHERE in the Constitution there is a RIGHT TO HAVE ABORTIONS. Guess what? THERE ISN'T ONE! Roe v Wade was a COURT DECISION. Court decisions, whether from city, county, state, or even the Supreme Court, ARE NOT LAWS.

Don't sit there and tell me you have a "constitutional right" to get an abortion, because ABORTIONS DID NOT EXIST WHEN THE CONSTITUTION WAS WRITTEN! Back then pregnancy and babies were considered a precious commodity and whole towns would celebrate when new babies were born. The problem is that people today are too selfish, thinking only about themselves and how having a baby would interfere with their lifestyles.

If a woman does not want to have a baby, she should not be fooling around and having sex (since no form of birth control is 100% effective). Contraception is intented to prevent pregnancy but does not always work. Abortion is NOT contraception because abortions happen AFTER conception, which means ABORTION KILLS A GROWING BABY.

I personally would never have an abortion because I was the one that had the decision to have sex but what if a woman was raped? how could you treat a child that brought back so many bad memories to you right? Some people are not meant to have children and unfortunately they did not take the right precautions to avoid pregnancy. would you rather have a child be beaten horribly and grow up to be a mass murderer because their mom did not want them? again if you do not agree with abortions don't have one. people will do it no matter what. legal or illegal. might as well do the safe way.

I'd like to add to your comments. Abortion is not only murder--it is a very dangerous procedure that often takes the life of the mother as well. Some good references to the dangers of abortion to mothers can be found in Ann Saltenberger's book, "Every Woman Has a Right to Know the Dangers of Legal Abortion", Carole Everett the former director of 2 of the largest abortion clinics in Texas testified that we would never know the number of maternal deaths due to abortion as each instance is labeled with other 'causes', and of course, Dr. Bernard N. Nathanson who co-founded National Abortion Rights Action League and presided over 60,000 abortions before changing his views in the mid 70s. As to the "rape" question. For one thing, since when is it right to murder a child for the crime of his/her father? That's what rape is. Abortion does not 'unrape' the woman. Women who've had abortions after being raped often state that they felt they were being raped all over again when they had their abortions. Women who've been raped need Rape counseling, not shuttled to an abortionist to have an innocent baby ripped from their wombs. In a rape case, you have two victims: mother and child. Why not go after the rapist and put him to death? That makes more sense than killing an innocent child who's done nothing wrong. If a woman fears she can't raise a 'rapist's baby', she can always relinquish her child for adoption. I'm an adoptee, and I happen to know if a woman who plans to relinquish does not want to see her baby, she is not forced to. A woman who is raped and decides to let her child live but does not wish to see the baby will be given an anesthetic to put her under, the baby is delivered, and she is taken to recovery without having to see the baby. What is needed is for women who are raped to be made to understand the baby is a victim of circumstances and doesn't deserve the death penalty. The argument of abortion for rape is almost a moot point as only about 2% of forcible rapes result in a pregnancy. Statutory rape should not even be a factor in the rape argument. As to the 'my body' argument, that is a bunch of bullcrap. The unborn baby has 23 chromosomes from mother and 23 chromosomes from father, his/her own unique finger/footprints and often shares a blood type with the father. In very rare cases (such as mine), a baby may have his/her mother's blood type. The point is, the unborn baby is a very distinctly different person apart from the mother. The unborn baby is not an 'appendage' or a 'tumor'. I don't believe my birthmother had the right to kill me before I was born, and I don't believe I have the right to kill any child I might conceive. Having worked at a Crisis Pregnancy Center, it still amazes me to hear how little women know about abortion. Are you aware that the Saline Solution Abortion has the second highest fatality rate next to heart surgery? I believe firmly in telling women all the complications that result from abortions and making them wait at least 24 hours. I know at 15, a girl doesn't want to become a mother and may opt to abort. The problem is, her abortion can perforate her uterus, damage her cervix, shrink her bladder, puncture her intestinal wall, and cause infertility. Fast forward about 10-15 years, now this girl is a married woman who desparately wants to have a baby. She and her husband go to their doctor to find out why she isn't conceiving or why she's having miscarriages and her doctor tells her she can't get pregnant because she had an abortion at 15 or that she's miscarrying because her abortion damaged her cervix. That is devastating. For those who argue about 'being forced to raise a child that isn't wanted', that argument doesn't hold water, and I'm a prime example of that. No woman is 'forced' to keep her baby and raise him/her. She always has the option of making an adoption plan. By the way, Roe vs Wade, Doe vs Bolton, and the Supreme Court's decision of 1973 to allow abortions to be performed 'legally' did not make abortion safe. All that did was allow physicians who were performing them illegally to perform them openly. Dr. Bernard N. Nathanson in his book "Aborting America" admits he made up the "100,000 deaths to women in back alley abortions per year" figure to get abortion legalized in New York. The reality is that the numbers were in the 100s and had been decreasing. Some other good sources to get a hold of are the videos "A Matter of Choice", "Massacre of Innocence" and the book, "Who Broke the Baby?". In Who Broke the Baby, the author recounts how she made a slide show showing aborted fetuses. Her then 3-year-old son looked at one of the pictures and asked, "Who Broke the Baby?" If a small child can see the obvious, what does that say for adults who aren't? Dr. Nathanson was a staunch atheist for many years after he changed his views from pro-choice to pro-life. He has since embraced the Catholic faith. I do understand the Biblical references as I'm a firm believer in the Bible; however, there are pro-life people amongst those who don't believe in the Bible, also.

Thank you so much, John and baby and B.J.J. I really appreciate your comments and for visiting my site. Right on, John. You de bomb, baby. Thank you so much for standing up for me. You are my friend. *Smiles* I hope I can do the same for you. And B.J.J., terrific information. That was very informative. Great work. I look forward to reading those books after the election.

To the others who came across as more than dim, you know what? It really bothers me when people have the audacity to place comments on my site without having enough intelligence actually to read what it is that I have written above. If it is too hard for you to read, then you should go back to school and get educated before commenting on my site and learn actually to comprehend what has been written. FYI, it's not my writing that is the problem. I was a straight "A" student in college and tutored others and trained others to be tutored. It's your problem. You lack the intelligence to comprehend it. It's as simple as that. This lack of yours certainly explains why you so illogically hold to the murderous practice of abortion and that you have no clue about what Roe v. Wade, as being completely unconstitutional according to the Tenth Amendment did, in illegally making abortion legal, taking the right away from the states to decide on abortion. And as far as rapes go, I already talked about that in the post above or were you just too lacking in intelligence again to grasp it; or were you just wasting my valuable time by your feigning stupidty? Paaaaaallllleeeeeaaaaasssssse! Leave and do not come back. You waste my time.

As for taking away my right to free speech, that's just like a dem...don't like what I have to say; so you try to shut me up. Not gonna work with me. "Wouldn't be prudent." I'm as verbal as they come. LOL! But the bottom line is that you repulse me in your pretending even to be a citizen of the U.S. when you have no concept of what the Constitution is all about. And how pathetic of you if you are and haven't a clue when there is all of this free access to information all over the web. And besides your comment still has no logical place because the legalization of abortion is unconstitutional. It would be just like you to try and break the Constitution further by infringing on my free speech. You insult my intelligence by even uttering a word because your arguments are infantile and nonsensical while acting as though I should give you the decency of responding.

People, I am so for any logical discussion. But if you have none and haven't read the above, I'm just going to humiliate you because that's, in essence, what you are trying to do to me. Please instead just walk away after heeding to my warning listed above with regard to how I will treat those who have no reasonable argument but instead attack me personally as in this case with not being able to understand to the point of the scripture I listed above. If you're going to be rude, I will, too. And in case the people reading this are too stupid to have read the warning above, here it is again:
