Nostalgia Ain't Kosher

user

Nostalgia is useless. Pointless. Worthless. Distracting. A waste of time. A temporary emulation of emotions from the past. Futility. Vanity.

Harsh? Perhaps. But I think it's necessary since that is how I personally feel about it.

It's nice and lovely to think about how things used to be, for better or for worse. But nothing is gained. A person is only tormenting his or herself. Things will and should never be the way they used to. Life goes on. Things evolve. Transform. Change. Whether we like it or not. We are not the ones in control. But we do have to choice to change the way we feel about it all.

It ain't kosher—nostalgia.

Now, a difference exists between reflecting, and wishing things could be the way they used to. Learning from the mistakes of the past is one of the wisest things a person can do. No one can deny that.

No matter how bad life may seem, it is never as good as it gets right now, or as good as it will be in the future.

Does that sound contradicting? It may be just that. It depends on if an individual leads the progressive life that is synonymous with this dynamic world.

Nostalgia is the direct result of one taking either the past or the present for granted—or both. If someone really appreciated a certain point in his or her own past, then what is the point in longing for it's return?

Us humans never really know how pitiful or magnificent our lives are until after we've lived it.

If we appreciate every moment of it, chances are we will be glad we savored and enjoyed what we view as the really good parts of our lives later on down the road.

Once the moment in time has past, it's gone for good. No amount of wishful thinking shall ever bring it back.

That's something everyone already knows, but either fails or refuses to realize.
