Friday, Nov. 20, 2009.................... Chinese daily horoscope for the "Rabbit" or "Hare"
As long as you act cautiously with your financial investments,
you'll probably do well. Purple is a positive color for
attracting wealth. Using your intelligence and attention to detail
could bring success at work; but try not to be too demanding or
controlling toward others. Treat yourself to a cultural activity
after work.
Hmmmm, the work part is right in line with what's going
on......................very interesting!
Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 ................Good afternoon Shine
friends. Beautiful sunny day in Maine, 38 degrees this
morning with a brisk wind but toasty on the south side of the
house. I made Jacob some fresh waffles this morning
with the new waffle maker (only $12.00 at Ocean State Job
Lot). He was soooooo happy.
Went out on a photo op this a.m. to take pics of a bridge Mike saw in the woods alongside Rte. 117 in Paris. Got some other nice pics too for possible use in future paintings. Have two days off and need to get paintng. Usually when I want to paint the house is too noisy and I like quiet when I paint. Looks like I need to send them all off on a vacation so I can be home ALONE with my paints. If only.........................
Oh, by the way.....we did get the new collander. I'm in spaghetti heaven........................................
$1.99....................doesn't take much to make this old girl happy!
Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.....Went to Wal-mart this morning and picked up a few things, all except for the new collander we've been trying to remember to buy for months now. Even writing COLLANDER on a list has failed to produce the much needed kitchen item. I can't, for the life of me, understand why we simply cannot remember to purchase a collander. So, I was browsing through a magazine and saw a picture of a collander..oh, I immediately cut it out and posted it on the fridge. Now, maybe we'll remember to buy a new collander. Then, Mike had to go out so I gave him the picture of the collander and begged him to stop and buy one. Let's see if he comes home with one. I'm not taking bets on it but there's a good chance I still won't have a new collander by the end of this day...........................
Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 - - Mornin' Shine friends. Now that a lot of you have had your FUN on my SOMETHING FUN post I'll let you in on the details. See, Nana is monitoring my post to see who can actually do this, those who can will be picked up immediately and taken for debriefing as you are nonhumans, that's right only ALIENS can perform this feat (no pun intended). LOL
Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.....I survived the 4th night. Hey, sounds like a good title for a book "The Fourth Night." Any novel writers out there - help yourself. Checked in with my horoscope today for a laugh and this is what it said -
"You're feeling the urge to conduct some more serious business -- though it may be far removed from the world of work! Your energy is just much more focused than usual, so get down to it!"
Guess I better start promoting my trays......I'll have to
stop in at the Art Center later on to see if they are
selling. That is about as "far removed" from my
work in Hospice as I think I can get. I keep telling Mike
he's got to hit the lottery so I can retire and paint
full-time. We have put one of our cars up for
sale. That is the first step in turning one of the garages
into a studio. In a couple of years we'll sell another
car and get down to one. Then my side of the garage will get
cleaned out and I'll start renovating it. I want to put a
full glass front on it, a raised floor, light-colored paneling on
the walls with lots and lots of hooks for hanging paintings.
I have big plans................or am I just dreaming?
This is a pic of the "Limited Space Art Studio"...........................aptly named for my limited space. LOL
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend. Hoping to catch up with you all later today. Peace.
Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 ......Just got called in for my 4th night in a row....it's ALL OVERTIME... oh! Would appreciate your prayers for a safe drive home in the morning. There's nothing like having a few Angels to guide me in safely.....Wishing you all a beautiful night. See you sometime Friday...Peace.
This is my nameplate....it tells you about me in a nutshell............................(not that I'm a NUT, now cut that out).........................
Wed., Nov. 11, 2009......Wishing you all a peaceful Veteran's Day....Support the Disabled American Veteran's with your contribution today. Our men and woman have given themselves for our freedom; don't keep them "prisoners" in the bodies they've been left with. Your donations mean a lot.............Peace.
There are only a couple of charities I give to and the Disabled American Veteran's is one of them. I also support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital for the wonderful work they do in providing care for our children stricken with cancer. Which charity is close to your heart, and why?
Trying to gather myself to face my third night of work. So far they have been two really intense nights with several difficult deaths. Feeling my "mortality" right about now and psyching myself up to face not only my patients but their families tonight.
Last night was particularly stressful on top of everything else going on because of staff squabbling. Difficult to focus on the patient's best interest when putting out fires between three other supposedly "professional" staff members. What I want to know is "who died and made me mediator?"
There, now that I've gotten that off my chest, I think I can go to work.....................Thank you Shine friends for your listening presence and emotional support.......Peace.
Mon., Nov. 9, 2009 .....Gorgeous start to the new week. Temperatures supposed to be in the 50's all week. Off to work tonight for 1st of 3 in a row. Getting a lot of painting done this week end.
Here is the newest tray; a copy of my 5"x7" painting "Finished Business". I left the original finish of the oak tray as the table top instead of putting a table cloth on it to see how it would come out. "It's different!"
I'm ready for Phyllis if she calls from the Art Center and says "send more trays"; now I have this one and another "Spring Lamb" waiting in the wings. I'm also working on a tray of the "White Birch Stump with Pink Flowers."
Wishing you all a beautiful week. I will catch up with you all by Thursday.................................
Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 ........"Sun"day says it all today.........Beautiful sunny day with crisp, clean mountain air. Can't wait to take a walk with Mike. Have lots of painting to get on with.
Took my trays to the Matolsky Art Center yesterday for their Christmas Sale. Ohhhhhh, I'm so excited. The curator was thrilled to see them. "We have NOTHING LIKE THESE and we need something different," she practically screamed. I could feel here excitement in the air. WOW! Let's just see what the public thinks. I don't know how well advertised the sale is and am not sure how many people will come to see them but hey, they weren't getting any attention sitting in my studio, were they?

Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009........Weekend off..yea! Taking Jacob and his friend Logan on a letterbox hunt at the Artist's Covered Bridge in Newry, Maine this morning. It's one way to get my walking in and give the boys something fun to do.........Wishing you all a beautiful day. Catch ya' later.
November 4, 2009 -
I have been working on a new painting, a portrait of a friend's daughter. I haven't done a portrait in so long I needed to know if I still "had it." It is coming out rather nice (will post when done). I need to rework the eyes. That's the nice thing about acrylics, you can blot out the mistakes and repaint them. A very forgiving medium to work in.
I will be taking my trays downtown to the Matolsky Art Center for sale. They have advertised a Christmas Sale of original artwork and anyone can put their art up for sale. They will take a 20% commission for selling your artwork. No one will have trays and that's a good thing because they make wonderful gifts. Not only do you get original art but it's on a useful folding tray. I can attest to their durability because the ones I painted for myself almost 6 yrs. ago still look new and we use them all the time. I'll sell them for $30.00 and see how that goes.
This picture of "Cutie" is on one of the trays I will be selling. Others include my "Spring Lamb" (which won a blue ribbon at Oxford County Fair), "Turkey Supper", "Tulips in square glass vase" and "Rainbow Eye."
Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday. Thank you for visiting me.................................Peace.
November 3, 2009 -
Well, yestereday was lost due to a major headache after working 3 nights in a row. Today I am working out all the kinks from sleeping too much. At least the headache is gone!.............
It's a beautiful day in the hills of Maine. At breakfast, Jacob noticed some chickadees checking out the new birdhouse Mike made and hung on the 4 ft. tall trunk left from the Chinese Cherrytree he cut down this summer, after it's last bloom. (remember the pic I painted, I'll post it)
There were actually two pair of chickadees fighting over the birdhouse. We watched them checking it out for safety. One of them actually hung upside down and checked out the bottom, making sure squirrels can't get in. (I wonder if the chickadees call them "squirrels".)
It will be interesting to see who moves in........................hmmm, new neighbors. I hope they are QUIET.
