Parents outraged at Britney’s sneaky song lyrics... We say get over it

Though her new album, “Circus” lacks a parental advisory warning for explicit lyrics, Britney Spears has found a clever way around using profane language on her track, “If You Seek Amy.” Say the title slowly and you may figure out what parents are so angry about. They lyrics in context are “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy.”

“I was astonished and totally taken aback when I heard my five and seven-year-old kids walking around the house singing ' f--- ’,” says parent Leonie Barsenbach. “When I asked them what it was, they told me it was Britney Spears. I was horrified.”

Ms. Barsenbach claims she bought ‘Circus’ for her kids thinking it would be good, wholesome entertainment for them over the holidays. Maybe we’re wrong, but this woman seems completely out of touch. Britney hasn’t been anything close to a desirable role model for youngsters for years. Two albums ago she had a song called “Touch of My Hand” that was very explicitly about masturbating and there was no warning on that album either.

“What I dislike most about this is that they have bypassed my authority as a parent by going under the radar by changing the wording to avoid issuing a warning,” continues Ms. Barsenback. Are we wrong for thinking the trick was sort of funny and clever?

Listen to 'If You Seek Amy' here and tell us if you think parents have a right to be upset. HAH! Pretty clever if you ask me :) I probably wouldn't have noticed the lyrics if you didn't point them out, though. Its a techno pop song - who listens to the lyrics???

Um, shame on her for thinking Brits is anything other than a dirty w----. When she first came out, what do you think "Baby hit me one more time" means exactly? It's "I can't wait to screw you again" basically. It's always been adult fare. I hope she's learned her lesson. Stay away from ex Mousekateers. All that pent up sexual frustration comes out in their music later on.

First of all, yes, it's not something that a 7-year old girl should be singing. So, why did the parent think it would be "good, wholesome entertainment", and purchase the CD in the first place? Has she not been paying attention to Spears over the past 3 years or so?

brit has never been a maker of music for children!!! what i want to ask is, if all her other songs were ok for your children to sing why stop them now, if they know the old songs, a lil to late isnt it!!!!!

...over protective moms with too much time on their hands just revealed some dirty lyrics in this song i might have not noticed in the first place...i actually had to listen to the song several times and google the dirtiness in these lyrics...kids arent going to notice if i a grown woman with a potty mouth couldnt...she is a 27 year old WOMAN...she sings dirty songs...she always has...the problem with these parents is they need to remember she is an ADULT...she hasnt been appropriate for children to listen to for years...if she had sung a song like this when she was 16 i could understand the outrage...
