Last month my job joined together with other companies all around California for "Volunteer Week."
I signed up to donate my time at one of the local Food
Banks. "TALKING ABOUT EYE OPENING
EXPERIENCE!"
This location receives food donated by a few of the local
neighborhood grocery stores. Along with can goods like kidney
beans, mixed vegetables, or corn, and boxed or packaged items like
pasta, and mash potato flakes), additional items I
witnessed being donated were within days if not the day of that
item expiring. (chickens, milk, juice, breads, pastries, eggs, and
produce).
Due to the high volume of people that generally show up, this particular food bank can only provide food to each family in this manner once a month (meals/provisions that will last for about 3 days)
My volunteer hours that day were from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm. As a single female, I am so grateful to God for providing me with the necessities I need to survive in this day and time. (There have been a few times I've had to resort to "non-name" brand items just to stay within my budget). In everything give thanks!!
After that visit, I decided that that will not be my last "volunteer block of time." I've already contacted one of the staff members, and will be volunteering in November at a few more food and possibly clothes give away gatherings.
So a sowing I will go.............
What seeds (making a difference) have you planted recently, in
transition, or in life itself?
