Regis Philbin: the man is amazing

Regis Philbin is the new host of "Million Dollar Password" this summer, bringing back the popular game show from the 60's. (Anyone catch Betty White on the last episode? Amazing.) This show biz king has no signs of slowing down despite his 76 years of age. Everything he touched turns to gold! "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" was a cultural phenomenon, and he took on the hosting duties of the first season of "America's Got Talent" which is still a ratings winner. Philbin, of course, is most well-known for his “Live” morning show. He holds the Guiness World Record for “Most Hours on Camera,” with 15,662 (and counting) on-airtime logged. If this doesn’t make him amazing, then I don’t know what does. But, there is more. So. Much. More.

Many of you probably watch “Live with Regis and Kelly” every morning, drinking your coffee and eating your breakfast. I can’t imagine a more enjoyable 15 minutes than the unscripted banter that Regis and his co-host, eternally perky Kelly Ripa, provides day after day. That Regis, he’s a character. Whether he’s taking about his beloved Notre Dame sports teams, mispronouncing celebrity names, or spontaneously yelling, “I. CAN’T. TAKE. IT. ANYMORE,”  I feel like Regis is part of my family.

His appearances on David Letterman are always worthy of TiVoing or staying up late; it's like watching two little boys bicker, hilariously, on the playground. He made a Christmas album, which really isn’t very good, but I bought anyway because I wanted to support him. Let us remember that he also underwent triple-bypass surgery last year and came back better than ever.

Philbin's contract with "Live" is up next year. At his age, he deserves to retire and enjoy his time with his wife, Joy, and do the things that normal senior citizens do. But, I suspect, this whippersnapper will resign and be on the air for at least a few more years to come. Without him, cereal and coffee just wouldn't be the same.

I just love Regis. He's old but he's still got that spunk to him. If he was about 40 years younger.....

Regis is old old old, retire already. I love Kelly Ripa but refuse to watch the show because Regis is STILL on it.

I think Regis is wonderful and gives me a reminder of the way stars used to be. He has morals and character, hard to find in the Hollywood scene much anymore!

Regis is a character. He's 76? I didn't realize he was *that* old. He doesn't show it!

Regis is in good shape for the shape he's in. But what drives him to do more and make more at age 76?

I am a bit fed up with Regis but I do love Password. So far this season Betty White and Neil Patrick Harris have been the best Celeb clue givers.
