Republican V.P. Nominee's Shopping Spree UnJustifiable or is Elisabeth Hasselbeck Right About Sexism and Double Standards in Politics?

On the Republican campaign trail this weekend as Sarah Palin

continued to fire up McCain supporters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck from ABC’s “The View”, called into question the recent discussion in the media about Sarah Palin’s wardrobe.  Is Hasselbeck right about the media being unfair in focusing on the Republican campaign organizers’ decisions to spend $150,000 on a new wardrobe for Alaska’s “hockey mom” governor?  Or is this yet again another attempt by McCain’s team to divert the public from the real issues facing many families across the country?  Do the “Joe the Plumbers or Ann the Secretaries” really care about Palin’s clothing allowance?  Maybe it is true that the media has been more than a little overly concerned about Palin’s personal life and less focused on her ability to lead the country in the event of McCain’s election and possible incapacitation during his presidency.  As we know McCain is in excellent health and a cancer survivor who is not showing any signs of anything but true grit and determination to win that Oval Office come next Tuesday.  The fact that Palin was formerly strutting around in Fifth Avenue duds, seems to be drawing attention away from the Republican’s message of change even as the two presidential candidates enter the home stretch.  Is this really fair and even necessary at this point, to fixate on the latest mistake of McCain’s running mate Palin who willingly chose to accept clothing she more than likely did not require to represent the Republican party?  Maybe Hasselbeck would have been better off letting "sleeping dogs lies", for as Fox News pointed out,

the issue of Palin’s attire whether it is from “Shoe Fly” or
Saks, is highly irrelevant at this stage in the game.  Frankly, it seems more than obvious that Palin supporters would be better off highlighting her potential for success if McCain wins office, not the negatives surrounding her latest unwise decision.  Besides, not many women would pass up the opportunity to sport designer fare without footing the bill but then again, Palin is the one running for political office during a time when some of the country’s citizens are lucky to even be able to afford the luxury of eating, forget about new clothes.

Palin obviously loves her new designer clothes. She has been photographed several times in those pricey Cole Haan boots.

It seems Palin was happy to be in her $150,000 threads until she discovered she would have to pay taxes on them if she did not give them up.

One last thought... Hasselback is a flaming idiot.

    Hey Springtime!

Thank you for your comments on this topic, which are unfortunately more than likely true on both counts! It is truly sad when you think about it but I suppose the campaign organizers knew what they were doing when they chose to provide Palin with an enormous clothing allowance and selected Hasselback to open the Republican rallies this weekend. Hey I love Cole Haan boots as well, but then again, like most, I have to buy my own!

    Have a Wonderful One!
