New idea on a blog…please excuses the extreme in opinion.
I live in Michigan and this past Tuesday the biggest news of the day was how schools were not allowing students to watch the president’s speech. Now here is where I have the problem schools would not let students watch the president’s speech about staying in school.
What is wrong with the American public these days that now we must shelter our children from our own president. The president that I have to say my generation elected. My generation was moved to elect a new president through the tragedies that we seen throughout our school lives. Columbine, 9/11, the war in Iraq and the worst recession the United States has seen in years. During our first year of college we watched as our government let the people affected by hurricane Katrina suffer more than any free American.
Lets (as a nation) put aside the party talk. Let’s start to enrich in our children that they have the right to choose who they feel is qualified to run the country they live in. let’s let our children choose their futures and listen to the leaders of today and not let history repeat itself.
I once had a friend who was told by her parents she was not allowed to attend a certain college because it was too liberal. Um, HELLO, all colleges are liberal. When parents shelter their children they are depriving them of making well educated decisions. If the children of today don’t understand both sides of an issue they are hurting everyone in the country.
Let’s save the bickering for an election year. What is done is done. There is no going back no changing it. As a people we need to work on the problems that have plagued a nation for so long, remember the 60’s? When people fought for what they believed in. Where did that go? What happened to those people? I think the country needs you back. We need jobs and reliable healthcare. We need it now not when it is convenient for those on the other side of the isles. The adults of this nation need to come together do their duty for their country, fight to bring home troops from Iraq. Who were sent to fight a war under false pretenses. These men and women fight for us and do it every day all for practically nothing. These men and women have hard times feeding their families because the government doesn’t pay them enough. Let’s ALL stand up for them. Let’s give them the homecoming they deserve.
I think it’s time for all Americans to come together and put this country back on its feet where it belongs.
