“Sex and the City” movie sequel confirmed—but what more is there to show?

Despite my holding off on watching the “Sex and the City” movie till it came out on DVD, I did enjoy it more thoroughly than I expected. But now comes wind via Kim Cattrall that a movie sequel is definitely in the works, and I can’t say I’m thrilled about it.

What more is there to tell? Sure, we’re glad that Carrie and Mr. Big ended up together, but after he ditched her on their wedding day, the ultimate crime after probably a decade of hurtful crimes and missteps, do we really want our protagonist living (happily?) ever after with this jerk? Do we really have to watch another movie where he inevitably screws up again? Can she ditch him and end up with Aiden and his child from another woman?

I can’t surmise a script for the other characters either. When movie #1 left off, Samantha was back to being single and on the prowl. We’ve seen single Sam in six season’s worth of episodes, we're over it, and dare I say I'd rather not watch the promiscuous sexual escapades of a women her age (though she still looks amazing). Miranda and Steve are back together and live in Brooklyn. Okay, now what? Charlotte had a baby. She already had an adopted daughter in the first episode, so that’s not really adding any new elements. Maybe she’ll get a job again?

Yeah… we don’t see the point, aside from the creators and stars of the film totally cashing in. Would you watch another “Sex and the City” movie? [People]

darn I wanted to watch the movie but now i have read what it was all about and Mr big ditched her! that was a shock to me.Anyways i love the series and will still watch it. yes i agree with you, i don't know what else they can come up with but look at desperate house wifes...few years later. Maybe they will all have children and they grow up and make the next generation, and see if they turned out like mom and dad. Would i watch the second movie...I don't know. good post!

I agree! What else could possible happen in the sequel to the movie? Maybe it will show like a new group of 4 ladies doing....? The same thing I guess.

I love Sex and the City, love love love it. Watched it from Season 1 and saw the movie on its release night in theaters. I just cannot imagine what else can be said. It seems like each character fulfilled their desitinies.

Guess we will have to wait and see!

I swear every blog I've seen about this has been completely hating on SATC! Look if you're a fan then you're a fan.....I can't get enough of SATC...it's timeless it's ispiring and it has revolutionized television, fashion and movies. I don't care if anyone says they run it to the ground with a second movie because I believe in the integrity of the story and as much as they are cashing in, they are also giving us more of the genius that is SATC. If you think it's going to suck then don't watch it...but as for me..I'm going to make a fabulous evening of it...CAN'T WAIT to see what comes next!

I am a HUGE SATC fan. When it went off the air, I didn't start watching Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy or even Army Wives.

The movie was enough - - go out on a high note.

I love SATC...and all I want is more. I loved the movie because it made me cry from happiness and sadness and it's funny. I'm totally excited for a sequel. I don't even care if it gets over the top or repetitive. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

And how the girls friendship has changed in there 50s? I thnk sex and the city is fantastic and although its just a tv programme i think it really has inspired more women to still put them selfs first and look there best even as they get older in life
