Is it appropriate (or at what age is it NOT appropriate) to bring little boys into a women's public restroom?
One mom emphatically said to boys over the age of 7, NO WAY! and recommended a hasty call to security. Another mom took a less agressive stance - asking those who stand in judgment of her choice to bring her kids in because she's worried about sending them into unknown territtory by themselves - to simply mind their own business (oh do pardon the pun!).
With an 8 year old son who has thankfully taken it upon himself to go into the men's room alone and the abating of my own fear that a predator lurks behind every bathroom stall, reading about it on TMC was the first I'd heard or even thought about this one. But now that it's been brought to light and I've read the heated exchanges between mothers (along with other opinions like this one scattered across the web) I can see that this isn't a black and white issue in our modern world.
The reason this mom brought her boys into the Girls room was her concern for their safety; the reason another mom objected to the prescence of these little men was her concern for her privacy. Does safety trump privacy? For me, I think it might. But obviously, not everyone agrees. Love to hear your thoughts on this one here or in the new and improved truuconfessions confessional!
