However, perhaps the most addictive and, dangerous, aspect of the show is that it makes me think I can dance. It's not like I watch American Idol and think I can sing. I don't watch Top Chef and think I can cook. And I certainly don't watch Project Runway and think I can make clothes. For some reason, SYTYCD inspires me to move my body, even though I possess very little ability to do anything other than move my feet in a circle. In fact, last year after SYTYCD ended, my friend and I were so inspired by the dancers on the show that we decided to take tap dance lessons. For six weeks I learned to shuffle, do the time step and tippity tapped until my heart was content. So, yes I did think I could dance, but in all actuality, it was more like: So, you thought you could dance...but, not really.
