The current debate over whether or not the Stimulus
package, also known as The American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act, has had any positive effect on our economy, job
creation, and companies that were quickly headed towards bankruptcy
has been heated, and explosive.
There is little evidence that this
stimulus has had any positive effects, and to make matters worse,
we are now bombarded with the knowledge, that all American's
tax payer dollars, are being used to fund , that's right, you
guessed it.... Porn.
The NEA, or National Endowment for the Arts as
it's also known, is an organization that has long come under
scrutiny from family oriented groups, and the public in general for
its risque, sometimes pornographic, destructive idea of what true
"art" is.
Although we could debate all day on the subject
of what is truly art, and what is not, the intent of this post, is
not to debate that point, and it is noted that not all of the
artistic programs the NEA supports could be classified
as pornographic in nature.
Why have I mentioned the NEA? I've mentioned this organization,
because they've been granted 80 Million dollars of Stimulus
funds. I suppose some are now saying, so what?
The problem isn't that the NEA received stimulus
funds, although that would be based on the premise that the
stimulus was even a good idea to begin with. The problem is, the
NEA is using portions of those monies, to fund Pornographic
"art".
The news recently reported, that the NEA, has given money to a
number of productions that are far from artistic in nature, at
least in most people's view.
Among some of the recipients of stimulus funds doled out by the NEA
are:
1: The film house "Frameline" specifically funded
is the movie "Thundercrack".
A full fledged porn, which is described as quote, "the
world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete
with four men, three women, and a gorilla."
2: A San Fran based group named "CounterPulse" that
produces a weekly live show called "Perverts Put Out"....
that invites guests to: "join your fellow pervs for some
explicit, twisted fun."
3: "The Symmetry Project"... described by Fox News as
what "amounts to two people writhing naked on the floor,
a government-funded tango."
I don't want to incite a debate about porn, and whether or not
it's acceptable. That is not the intent of this post, and is in
fact, a whole other issue entirely.
I don't have a problem , as I'm sure many don't,
with people doing what they wish, in the privacy of their own
homes, or in a club, as long as it doesn't involve minors,
and/or Tax Payer Dollars.
The problem here, is that stimulus money, is being dispursed to an
organization, that can't seem to differentiate between art and
porn and the monies are being used irresponsibly and
wastefully.
Do we really need to be funding porn, with tax payer dollars,
during a recession? Or ever, at all?
The blame for this abominable action, not only lies with our
government, for giving money to an organization that is Known for
this type of "art", but in not tracking, and holding the
NEA accountable (Thanks Joe Biden, wasn't that your
job?), when they became aware that this money was being given
to fund porn.
The fact that the above productions are porn, is not really in
dispute, they are being touted as such by the producers
themselves.
If they want to produce this type of "art" that's
fine, but our government should not be using stimulus funds,
to help them do it.
Not when so many are struggling, and wondering where their next
meal or paycheck will come from.

Report AbuseAWESOME post, CML! I was in complete shock when you posted me the link about this, and I still am. I can't believe that with our economy in the shape it's in, that our hard earned money is going towards projects such as these.
80 million dollars to this one organization? An organization that produces PORN?
I will receive alot of flack for what I am about to say, but I don't care. Our President is a FRAUD!!! His main objective, he claims, is to help poor struggling Americans. How many of US could use some of that 80 million dollars?????????????? How many of our schools could use that 80 million dollars??? I am so disappointed that our elected officials let this travesty occur.
Obama is an embarrassment.

Report AbuseUnfortunately this isn't something new. I remember several years ago some guy had a federally funded art show with photos that most deemed obscene, offensive, and/or pornographic. (Among other things, food items in places ordinarily covered by one's undies!)
Many of our Congresspeople argued that just because some view this as porn doesn't mean it isn't "art." I'm sorry, but that is just a bunch of sh!t! I mean, a bunch of carrots coming out of some guy's ass!

Report AbuseI just can't believe after all of the misuse of stimulus money, that things like this are STILL slipping through the cracks! Although 80 million dollars would require a HUGE crack.

Report AbuseThundercrack! LOL!!!!
Yes, I'm not surprised at anything our government funds, but like you said, to use stimulus money, money that is menat to help all of us get back on our feet....it's disgusting.
I am going to work on writing a letter to the president. I haven't done that since I was in third grade. I think it's time we take our government back, and put it in the hands of the people.

Report AbuseGreat post CML. I am so sick of the NEA and I'm sick of my tax dollars funding (so called) art. The stimulous bill was supposed to stimulate the economy right ??? That's what I understood but I don't see where that is happening. Maybe some road work jobs but a vast majority of the (so called stimulous) is just pork and Obama's pet projects.
Case in point, the high tech rail line that is going to give jobs to Europeans and create a rail line that American's may not even use but this is what Obama wants to help the dependence on fuel. That may be a good thing but it is not creating jobs in OUR country.
This stimulous bill is a big RIPOFF and it is hurting Obama in the polls big time. American's have figured out that they have been fleeced

Report AbuseANother example of our government's "help"..just read that the government is pumping another 2 billion dollars into the "cash for clunkers" rebate program where customers are supposed to receive up to 4500.00 for a tradein if the new vehicle gets better gas mileage. They have already given 1 billion to this program, and have run out of money. The thing is, the dealerships are complaining that the government can't even process a simple rebate. Some are complaining that they have sent in rebates as amany as three times, and have received three rejections. So, the goverment isn't paying the auto dealerships, and the dealerships are refusing to deliver the vehicles until they gov't sends them the rebate. If they can't handle something as simple as this, how are they going to handle our health care? Wake up people!!!! Get ready for the long lines at the doctor's office. That is, when you FINALLY get an appointment! Wonder how long it will take to get a prescription filled???
