Strangest career decision: pro hockey player Sean Avery trades in his skates for a "Vogue" internship

During the off season, New York Ranger Sean Avery made an interesting career move—he’s interning at Vogue magazine. "I wanted to immerse myself in fashion,” Avery told fashion trade mag Women’s Wear Daily. “I couldn't think of a better place to do it than Vogue." Perhaps ex-gf Mary Kate Olsen helped him tap into his metrosexual side.

While Avery is most likely earning minimum wage like the other interns, he will be experiencing perks unlike his predominantly undergrad coworkers. How many interns do you know who may grace the cover of the magazine AND attend the Europe couture shows with legendary editor in chief Anna Wintour? Models, clothes, jet-setting around the world—a lot more glamorous than hitting around a hockey puck. If you ask us, we’d opt for a permanent career swap. [Perez]

This makes perfect sense. If you've seen Avery "play" hockey, you can see where he'd want to immerse himself in an industry where looks are more important than talent.
