Spring cleaning also makes me want to mentally and physically spring clean. I want to dust off all the crap in my head and feel good about letting it go. I want to shed some pounds, I want to be healthier. Kind of like throw the extra dessert off my hips and replace with healthy cucumber slices.
My issue is that I like to do everything in one day. But I think since I am limited right now anyway, I should take one weekend day or a part thereof and do this for one month. Cleaning, throwing, donating and letting go of. I think my house, my head and my rear end will appreciate it in the end.
I am thinking to reward myself, I will have a tag sale at the end of all of this and spend it solely on doing something fun with my son and husband. I don't know what yet, but I will think of something good.

Report AbuseI am happy to have company! I have gotten rid of a lot so far and I feel better already. My house seems bigger when I just throw out or donate a few things per room. I have also collected a pretty large pile of tag sale items. Even if I made 200 dollars from it, I would be thrilled.

Report AbuseI also am organizing after being home after weight loss surgery. I have the clothes of mine that are too small and the loaned ones in different sizes. I have some of those bags where you can apply a vacuum hose so I am going to sort by size and store them until I get to that size. I am going to cover some pillows with spring/summer fabric to brighten my room up. The best way for me to organize is to throw out junk and papers to make more room. Turn up the music and have fun.

Report AbuseThat sounds great Judy. I have been just doing a dresser, drawers, a few cabinets and surface areas. If there is clutter or things I have not used in a long time I am getting rid of them. So far so good. I have a couple of empty drawers that I am not even sure what to put in them. Its going well so far. But I am done for the week and I think next saturday I will pick it back up again and do my sons room! Wish me luck!

Report AbuseI only have one child so far, but I include him in clean-up and he seems to not mind. On Saturdays we clean the house. It takes an hour and a half with my husband and I doing equal work. Our 4 year old takes part by putting all of his toys away from every room he has spread them to. I keep all of his toys in labeled bins and then he has one small toy box for those toys that do not fit into any category. He loves matchbox cars and has hundreds of them, so he knows where the car bin is and he puts them back. The bins stack 2 under his bed and they stay there. Your kids are of an age where they can help you out. I also do a load of laundry a night and fold and put it away when its dry. We go to bed with an empty sink everyday. Just these little things help the stuff not get piled up. Also, every 3-4 months we clean out the toys. If he is not playing with it or in love with it or has outgrown it, it gets thrown out or donated. And trust me, I have dog hair on my floor at the end of the week, things are out of place and I need to clean but its not unmanagable. I know with three kids there is just more of everything, but this is what I do to make my life easier. Hope this helps!
