  Ron: The airlines have started to charge for two seats for the obese. It is only fair. I don't think the obesity problem will change in the near future even with all the focus on it and the self help shows and books. Basically as long as people are going to food shop at Wal Mart they will ride through the store filling their carts with fast-microwavable convenient foods.

  I worked in Nursing Homes as a Care Nurse. Overweight folks were tough to care for. We had one woman we could not put in the tub, and it took 3 of us to sponge bath her. You don't see too many overweight folks in Korea, the Azores, or Europe. Here in Germany, they seem pretty health-conscious. German Supermarkts have health food. Refrigerators are very small as are ovens. I think a lot of the problems have to do with preservatives, artificial junk, and MSG. Another problem is lack of good exercise.
