Funny, I thought this country was about freedom of choice, not forcing people with certain ideals to do things they don't believe in. (this is not a religious rant... just a rant on logic).
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) will be signed into law if Congress passes it on January 21-22, 2009. If signed into law, FOCA will lift all limitations on abortion, resulting in the following:
1) All hospitals, including Catholic hospitals, will be required to perform abortions upon request. If this happens, Bishops vow to close down all Catholic hospitals - more than 30% of all hospitals in the U.S.
~ (You know, I figured "Freedom of Choice" would mean a girl can go to "a" hospital who will perform the procedure for her; not walk into an affiliated hospital and demand they accommodate her against their own ideals. Because, you know, she's better than everyone else and who cares if other people value the kid's life. We won’t force Muslims to reveal their faces on driver’s licenses, but we’ll force doctors to commit what they believe is murder, making them live with it the rest of their lives. PRIORITIES.)
2) Partial birth abortions will be legal and have no limitations.
~ (Ok, this is scary. At this point it's definitely a KID. So it's not a person because it hasn't touched the outside air yet? I bet if aliens exist they are looking at our logic (not morals... I said LOGIC) and thinking we are just stupid. Only in a human society does the endangered meadow-lark mosquito have more rights than a tiny human. A lot of you like Dr. Seuss, right? We grew up with him, and there was an enjoyable movie made recently: "Horton Hears A Who." Cute, and sends a good message. Did you get the message? "A person is a person, no matter how small." THINK.)
3) All U.S. taxpayers will be funding abortions.
~ (That really doesn't sound like a choice to me, but maybe I'm wrong? I guess I don’t get it. Must get my head examined. Then you can diagnose me with some mystery disease and have me put down.)
4) Parental notification of abortions on minors will no longer be required (regardless of age).
~ (There would never be a law passed allowing teens to get breast implants, tattoos, or brain surgery without parental consent. Oh the sacrifices for living a convenient life without consequences to our actions. Pathetic. Girls need to get a life and get responsible.).
Notice nowhere did I mention abortions should be illegal. It will never be illegal. You will always have that free will available to you, no matter how 'conservative' a politician is. Outlawing it will just never fly. You also have the free will to screw the neighbor’s spouse, steal, kill somebody, and be a general A-hole to society. You can do all of that. But something is going to catch up with you, whether it’s the law, God, Xenu, the Universe, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
THE BOTTOM LINE: People have rights to reject abortion, and that's being compromised to accommodate one group of people.
