After more than 3 years on the transplant list, The
Captain, the love of my life, finally got a
new kidney! Surgery ended at about 4:00 Wednesday morning and
it went without a hitch. Your prayers have
been greatly appreciated. This kind and gentle man deserves to
have the best in life. I've been laughing and crying since we
got the phone call.....at last, he will have a much better quality
of life!!!
Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive through all the
waiting!

Update, Oct 23: The Captain's kids are on the way to bring him
home! No more being away from his family. No more sleeping in a
hospital bed. NO MORE DIALYSIS!!!!! Thank you, God! And thank you,
my friends! I love you all!*****
I would like to take this chance to say thank you to the family
that made the donation possible. Their kindness, during a time of
sorrow, is one of the greatests gifts we can give....the
possibility of life. Please, all my Shine friends, if you
haven't already made arrangements to have your organs donated,
do it now. I have been registered as a donor for many years. My
children have instructions for when I die: Let the docs take what
they need for someone else. Cremate what's left & have a
bigazz Celebration of Life. My soul will go on forever, why
shouldn't others have the chance to live by using what I no
longer need? With The Captain being a recipient of such a selfless
act, I'm committed to encourage others to consider being a
donor. Make sure your next of kin are aware of, and in
agreement with, your wishes.
