The Top 10 Female TV Characters Women Want To Be Like And Men Want To Be With

Who hasn’t idolized or fawned over one of TVs lovely leading ladies before? For me growing up the chick I most looked up to was stylish journalist (okay, she was a news producer) Mary Richards played by Mary Tyler Moore who moved to the city on her own and had a rich dating life. I’d love to think I came pretty close to making her life my reality (except thankfully I’m not in snow-covered Minneapolis), and I'm totally not surprised she made this blog’s list of The Top 10 Female TV Characters Women Want To Be Like And Men Want To Be With.

Check out their funny montage video and let us know which female TV character you most admire. [Defamer]

    They are all great....

Mary Richards & Jill Munroe, I liked when I was a child, however, Clair Huxtable definitely had the work/life balance-thing going on...great husband & career, wonderful children....she had it all!

And looked great doing it. :D

I've always wanted to be Buffy for a day - as a teen, it was refreshing to see that she was just as messed up as I was, with the added bonus of having to save the world. I won't be able to come close to being Buffy, but my desire to try and save the world is what led me to law enforcement.

The Cosby Show was a family favorite in our house when I grew up and I always loved Clair Huxtable. She was the ultimate smart working mom. I also like Liz Lemon. Not so keen on the other choices. I've never really liked the Mary Tyler Moore show as I always thought she was too whiny. I haven't watched most of the other shows.

Did anyone see the male version of this list? I was pretty disappointed in that. There was no McDreamy, or Jim Halpert. I figured at least Jim would be on there. I was pretty impressed with the ladies list though. I definitely wanted to be Buffy growing up! Now that I am older and re-watching all of the Cosby episodes, I am just amazed by Clair. She's such a great role model.

Way back when there was another girl who moved to the big city with an aspiring career, cool clothes and an adoring boyfriend who was flirty without being hot to handle. This girl was - That Girl! Ann Marie aka Marlo Thomas. Use gals of the late 60s remembered seeing her cool outfits, an amble apartment in NYC and neighbors who came over for cocktails or dinners at their favorite Italian bistro. Ann was trying to make a go of it at acting and always had the love and support of her BF Donald. Her parents had a raised eyebrow but were hip post WWII types to know their daughter had to gain her independence. Other characters followed such as Julia as a nurse and single Mom, Shirley Partridge (as a widowed Pop mom) and Hope Lange as another single Mom with a dashing English ghost to keep life interesting. All were good role models as women trying to make it on their own.

I liked the Mary Tyler Moore Show too, but wasn't Mary always throwing parties that were really boring and no one ever wanted to attend? Maybe I'm mixing her up with Helen from Wings.

I always thought Cheryl Ladd (Chris Monroe on Charlie's Angels) was so beautiful, at least until her third season or so, when she just started to look weird. I also loved Buffy, who showed girls that they can kick butt and still look good, yet they don't have to be perfect. Her crime/vampire fighting came with a price — she didn't have time for school and got bad grades, and her mom was always mad at her for it.

I'm not sure who else I really wanted to be, other than part of the Tanner Family on Full House. Oh, I've got one: Lana Lang from Smallville. Beautiful and kind-hearted, and just an average girl. She shunned cheer leading to hang out with a reporter for the school paper and a farm boy.

I, too, digged "MaryTylerMoore", and "That Girl"but another one who I enjoyed viewing was "Rhoda" Rhoda Morganstein. Funny, a feminist, a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and went through the ups and downs of relationships and still didn't need to pop a pill to start a new day.

Claire Huxtable yes, Mary Tyler Moore yes, Sydney Bristow maybe, but Jennifer Anison's character??? She had some serious self respect issues, we can aim higher than that can't we?

I always wanted to be like "Wonder Woman," "Bionic Woman" or "Charlie's Angels." They were all so beautiful and really cool. Even as a little girl, I looked up to strong, independent, powerful Women
