...and exposing the
worms.
John McCain wants to postpone Friday's presidential debate due to
the "economic crisis."
In other news...Rick Davis, John McCain's campaign manager, is
quite the money-grubber and has been in bed with Freddie Mac for
several years now. For anyone keeping score, this would be a big,
fat WTF considering how vocal McCain has been in saying that it's
the politicians' and lobbyists' involvement with Freddie and Fannie
that prompted the housing crisis in the first place.
Apparently McCain knew that Davis was accepting monthly payments
from Freddie Mac - to the tune of $30,000 per month - and that
those payments stopped when the advocacy group that Davis was
running dissolved at the end of 2005. But the payments didn't stop.
Instead, Freddie Mac continued to make monthly payments of $15,000
to Davis's DC lobbying firm until last month.
Of course McCain is denying the fact that Davis has been accepting
any payments beyond 2005. Wait, what? So you knew he'd taken this
money before and that was cool with you? Like - cool enough that
you want to make this guy your campaign manager? And - AND - you
have the balls to blame the housing crisis on the greed and
motivations of politicians and lobbyists when your own guy is doing
it right under your nose? Wait - one final question - and you
didn't think you'd get caught?
Deny it all you want, Mr.
McCain, but both Newsweek and The New York Times can confirm that
you did know that your campaign manager continued to take the
payments.
I've only provided a summary of the story. If you've not read about
it, you might consider doing so - especially if you're a McCain
supporter.

Excerpt:
In a sharply-worded
statement released to the Huffington Post, David Donnelly, director
of the watchdog group Campaign Money Watch, said: "John McCain's
campaign manager and Freddie Mac essentially had a secret half a
million dollar lay-a-way plan. For almost three years, they made
secret, monthly payments of $15,000 to Rick Davis for apparently no
other work than for him to provide special access to a future
McCain White House in exchange. If McCain knew about this,
his presidential campaign should be over. If he didn't
know about it, he ought to fire Rick Davis
immediately."
