To be or not to be REALITY TV addicted.

Is it just me or is Reality TV one of America's guilty
pleasures. My reality TV journey began in 2002 with the Real
World and it has since taken off to everything from Road Rules, Top
Model, Flavor of Love to my new favorite Project Runway. I
almost cannot stand to watch regular t.v and I know this is very
sick. Why is reality TV so addictive? What is is that
makes us watch people making absolute fools of themselves and get
entertained? There is not a reality show that I have not
tried. Now I will admit, some I just cannot do like Big
Brother, Survivor, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and a few
others. When I reflect about what I don't like about the
aformentioned, they are all on mainstream television. This
even validates the perverseness of my sickness because the ones
that I find most joyful are the ones that have the lowest standards
and are on Cable networks. My husband thinks I am certifiable
because I have a reality show for every night of the week. He
really thought I lost it when I began watching From G's to
Gents. The funniest one is Million Dollar Listing. I
watch reality shows from every topic with people from every walk of
life. I just cannot stop. There are only a few network
shows that I even watch now and 2 of them are soap operas.
Then I have this cool thing called DVR, I will discuss that another
day, but when 2 of my shows are on at the same time, I just
record one and then I can watch it later. I know I am reality
show obsessed but I am o.k with this. What I would like to
know though is anyone else out there like me and if so, which shows
do you like etc...talk to me....

Sounds like your hubby might have a point. I like Proj. Runway and Survivor and that's pretty much all I watch. I like Proj. Runway because I like to sew and I like Survivor because I know I couldn't survive so I like to watch how others deal with that kind of stress. I need sleep, water and food so I know I could never make it. I have checked out a lot of the other shows over the years but I realized I was watching people having adventures instead of having them myself. I didn't like Amazing Race because I thought there was too much rudeness to the people of other countries all in the name of money. Also I don't think that is real traveling when you are racing thru a country and not really enjoying the people or culture. I don't have a DVR gizmo because I feel like I have to catch up if I miss them. That way I feel like I'm not a full-fledge addict. TV has really changed in the last 8 years or so....SO SO many reality shows, most of them just like all the rest. If they don't get good "players" it's boring.
