Violence vs. Lack of Self-Control: Is it the same?

user

In the past ten years all I hear on the news is violence.  Almost every television show or movie I watch is filled with some sort of violence. Music and Art is also filled with a certain amount of violence. But the last straw is violence in the schools.  I am, hopefully, not by myself when I say, " I am sick and tired of all the violence."   I have tried to reason in my mind why is the world, my country, my state, my city and my community is so full of violence and the only thing I could come up with is the lack of self-control. Lack of  self-control is when the a person feels an enormous amount of energy (negative) and channel it into something else or a project to get your mind at ease.  My critics argue that lack of self-control and violence does not walk hand in hand. I say they are dillusional, because the two are exactly the same.

When a person looses self-control, it is usually due to some pinned-up aggression or energy and it almost always leads to some form of negativety such as violence.  When someone makes an outburst, we naturally feel the person has lost their self-control, but violence or negative energy is the source of it. Now relating it to the violence in our society,  look at the amount of robberies, rapes, murders, sucides, assaults and molestations that we see on a regular basis and typically it is the result of someone with a lack of self-control.  The rage and anger hidden well beneath is tipped off by something as small as and insult and WOW!!! The Hulk emerges and fury is unleashed. When the rage subsides, remorse no matter how small set in and the guilty parties cannot go back or erase the chain of events.

So, inconclusion my opinion is that with all the violence going on because of a lack of self-control can be irradicated by one measure; and that is with love.  Usually it is the aggressor not feeling the emotion of respect or love that evokes violent tendencies. Or due to the long term affects of systematic abuse, our culture must provide some kind of positive or peaceful end to all the violence.  It first start at home with a hug, handshake, respect for all family members, boundaries, love, joy, you know simple things that still matter or being used in some families.  So the next time you see violence in a movie, just remember it could just come from lack of self-control from some sort of negativety and use that opportunity to turn evil into good.  But hey, what the heck do I know?
