What do you think?

user

If there’s on technique that I hear over and over again that proves to help heal your inner thoughts, feelings, and words, it’s journaling.  This one subject comes up again and again when one needs to really look inside of them and see from a different perspective of what is going on in our heads.  I’ve used this technique and it really proves itself effective.

So what makes it work so well?  It’s the simple action of taking what is in our heads and putting it on paper and then reading what we have wrote!  Nothing more, nothing less.  When we can read what we are thinking, it’s like talking to one of our girlfriends; we see it from a different point of view.  Writing your feelings down is proved by psychologist worldwide, that it makes us feel better, just as much as talking about it, just without the unneeded people trying to fix our problem for us.

So how do you get started?  I personally use a spiral notebook, inexpensive and you can fold over the pages and write easier anywhere.  Then you write…write to your hearts content.  This is not a grammar class, so if you make mistakes, good, keep writing.  If you use language you don’t normally use, good, keep writing.  Don’t judge yourself or make excuses, just keep writing what is in your heart and head.

I’ve found people don’t like starting with this technique, so I then suggest keeping a gratitude journal.  Oh yes, this one again!  Write 3 things you are grateful for everyday.  Whether it be breathing, kids, sun, feet, whatever, write it down.  Later on after you get more comfortable you can add to this list and you can even add your significant other to help you with your list.  We are all grateful for things, why shouldn’t we say so?

You can choose whichever technique works best for you.  Perhaps you have something else in mind along the same line?  I’d love to hear about it, shoot me a line.  Start something you won’t regret that you did.
