Report AbuseWell, from what I have read , mormons have their own bible, I forgot what it is called.(It has a name). I think they also use the bible we all know, but they give preference to the one they have. I think the mormons(men) can also have more than one wife. I'm not completely sure though. I believe there are two kinds of mormons: the very extreme ones and the more up to date ones ? And of course since the mormons have their own bible they have other views and beliefs different than the jehova's witnesses.
I guess a Mormon and Jehova's witness are the best people to elaborate on this theme. Do we have one here by the way?

Report AbuseJahovah's Witnesses believe that there are only a limited number of spaces in heaven, so that not all Christians will go to have. So they go around the neighborhood to try to convert more people into their religion so that they have more competition to get to heaven when the day of judgment comes. They really like competition.
Mormons believe that Jesus came to North America in the 5th century AD and taught the Native Americans in Utah.
They both believe in the old and new testaments. They're both evangelical and are required to fulfill some missionary work. They're both conservative on social policies.

Report Abuseit's Jehovah's Witness...lol. Any rate, the difference is Jehovah's Witnesses have their start from the beginning of human creation. Adam and Eve was worshipping one God and one God only until the Devil messed things up. Jehovah's Witnesses believe in that God to restore his purpose back to mankind. The Bible supports all of their beliefs.
Mormons have a different origin. The term "Mormon" has its origins in the Book of Mormon, which is believed by Latter Day Saints to be a historical and religious record translated by Joseph Smith, Jr. into English by divine inspiration from golden plates that he received from the Angel Moroni in 1827. A big difference here is the first case of a witness of Jehovah dates back to the time Enoch preached to people during the time the Nephilim was on the Earth and cause violence to spread before God destroyed man in the flood as the Bible says. The Mormons are modern day.
Other religions are self-centered and teach you to benefit yourself in selfish ways. Example. In the Bible, it talks about how God feels about homosexuality. Well, they now have a version of the Bible that takes that out and it's being used in churches that support that lifestyle. Eventually, everything God says is wrong, people practice. Witnesses try their very best to stay in harmony with those original beliefs. Another key point, we use God's name all the time. We don't use "Lord", "God", "Jesus" as God's name. Jesus even called on his Father's name in the Bible. And that's what the Witnesses do also, which is why they call themselves in essence Witnesses of Jehovah. It's the only way to describe people that have witnesses He's real and believe in Him by their lives and conduct. It's separates them from other religions period.
So hope that helps you some.

Report AbuseI hope I do not offend anyone, because it is not my intention. I will try to explain what is is to be a Mormon. I am what you would call a "Jack Mormon" which means that I was in the church but I no longer attend regular services. I cannot tell you about witnesses since I have never attended their services.
It is not easy being a Mormon mostly because of all the negative publicity out there. It seems that every time some wacko polygamist sect of the church does something the media immediately says it is the Church of Jesus Christ or Mormon church that is responsible. My experience with the church was quite spiritual and calming in my life. It is basically people and families getting right with God and Jesus so they can attend the temple and be baptized for the dead. The teenage part of the church were some of the most stable teenagers I have met in my life. They seem to have direction which is lacking in other sectors of society. The church is strict as far as not smoking or drinking caffeine etc. but we all have come to see that these things are detrimental to your health and should not be done anyway. All in all I found it to be uplifting. And I am sorry to say that I no longer attend.

Report AbuseActually the current Mormon bylaws only allow a man to have one wife. Whereas Muslims, who make up a good 25% of the worlds population allow polygamy, although not every Muslim has multiple wifes. And don't forget that father Abraham had many wives, so men make up laws, political as well as religious. Humans selectively determine which laws in the Bible apply to us. Obviously if we followed each and every law in the Bible, we would be stoning each other to death.
You couldn't tell a Mormon from a non-Mormon, except that Mormons seem strangely happy all the time. They're like always happy, no matter what.

Report Abuseoh wow. the differences are unbelivible. Mormon's do have their own book, called the book of mormon. jehova's uses a bible, but it is calld new world translation of the holy scriptures. it is more based on the hebrew writings. both are familey orenitated tho. jehova's people stay neautral when it comes to polotics, because they belive god doesnt belive in war, and being neautral is peaceful. mormons vote. when mormon's get babtized, they are fully sumerged, which jehova's are too, but mormons do one person at a time, and jehova's do hundreds athte same time. jehovas do not belive in celibrating any holidays, including christmas, easter, birthdays, 4th of july, all of them. they dont celabrate because they belive it is devil's worship and it is choosing holidays over the lord. Mormons do celebrate. Jehovas whitness belive that only 144,000 people will go to heven, and the rest will live on earth as a paridise. mormons belive there is different levles of heven, and depending on how you were on earth, how much you searved the lord, will determine which level you go to.
I could go on and on about this
I'm mormon, but my mother is jehova...so i like know what the differences are.

Report AbuseHeck(sorry) if your mother is a jehova's witness why don't you ask her? I get it. You probably start fighting over religion and you are both trying to convert each other so bad that you can't have unbiased conversation. Religion is a tough subject to talk about....also politics by the way.
