Why do women fall for magicians? Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend dumps him for Criss Angel

As children, who didn't love a magician: the preferred guest act at a birthday party (clowns are creepy). But haven't mature women realized these guys are total weirdos? Once you get past the, "Wow, how did he guess my card" amazement, it seems these men are not much beyond grown-up nerds who spent hours memorizing tricks from magic shops and honing their misdirection skills. Apparently though, many beauties are still impressed by their technique.

"Mindfreak" Criss Angel must have had something up his sleeve in order to steal Holly Madison, Hugh Hefner's main squeeze, away from the Playboy mansion. And this isn't his first hot girlfriend. Angel has previously been linked with Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton, Minnie Driver, Lindsay Lohan, Pam Anderson, and model/most downloaded woman on the Internet, Cindy Margolis.

We wish we could say Criss was the only magician whose "abracadabra" made pretty ladies appear, but their magic never fails. David Copperfield famously dated supermodel Claudia Schiffer in her prime from 1994-1999, while David Blaine exclusively lures gorgeous women like Fiona Apple, Madonna, Bijou Phillips, Josie Maran and Daryl Hannah.

Okay, I did happen to check out David Blaine in New York City while he was submerged in an underwater bubble for a week, but would I date him? No way! Will Arnett's Gob of "Arrested Development" is the only magician for me. And not because he's good at magic (turning $100 into 100 pennies?!), but because at least he makes me laugh.

Do you understand why women fall for magicians? [WWTTD

I just read a later article than this where Hef is quoted as saying Holly DIDN'T leave, it is a rumor. So maybe a little more solid research should be put into your 'articles' before you publish.

Posts and quotes from the average reader can get away with rumors, however one expects a little more from someone who is a professional writer.

Not that any of this really matters, but it is case and point that the media not only start rumors, but continue them because they are too lazy to verify anything. (Kind of like Tom Cruise doing Shrek 4 rumor, that made it to the LA Times even!).

Holly didn't leave Hef! She wrote a blog on MySpace saying that her and Hef weren't breaking up. If they did, I'd be shocked. She's totally commited to Hef.

Kendra probably is messing around with a NFL or NBA player... I just wouldn't thought that it would have been Holly, she seemed like she was in til death (Hef's death) she wanted the PLAYBOY fortune.

Maybe Chris had more 'magic' going on in the bedroom. Hef's kinda old.

    Joanna,

    Interesting article.

It appears (no pun), you have never known any "real" magicians. The reality is (real) professional magicians are actually far beyond ..."grown-up nerds who spent hours memorizing tricks from magic shops and honing their misdirection skills." Professional magicians are actually some of the most intriguing people you will ever meet and exchange conversation with, fact is (true) professional magicians (especially those who specialize in corporate entertainment) are some of the most intellectually stimulating individuals.

Your quote: "As children, who didn't love a magician: the preferred guest act at a birthday party (clowns are creepy)." Suggests, you have not experienced a (real) professional magician (close-up or stage), this is the case with most people...their perception is extracted from memories of long ago or from what others say. If you have the opportunity to get into the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, Ca. visit...I believe your article (Why do women fall for magicians?) will have some (serious) revisions. If you invest in researching the history of magic, it was NEVER intended for children, it was actually the entertainment for royality and the up class of society (Internationally) - - that of course was pre-television and YouTube, where anyone buying a couple magic tricks could flash their "new talent" and use this "new talent" as a way to escape their true identity as ..."grown-up nerds who spent hours memorizing tricks from magic shops and honing their misdirection skills."

"But haven't mature women realized these guys are total weirdos? Once you get past the, "Wow, how did he guess my card" amazement, it seems these men"... Your statement here implies all magicians are men and this is far from truth, as fact some of the best magicians in the world are women...why haven't you seen them? Great question...those who are not the ..."grown-up nerds who spent hours memorizing tricks from magic shops and honing their misdirection skills." are extremely busy performing on cruise ships and in the corporate arena and for private events (like celebrity part's in the Hamptons, etc.).

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me directly: david@davidbreth.com or (443) 490-1334

P.S. If you may get my MAGICIAN partner Lindy, who is a professional magician, oh and she is far from nerdy!
