Why don’t underage stars have to play by the rules?

We know that teen and child stars grow up quickly in Hollywood living in an adult environment full of partying, but sometimes we’re still surprised at the stories we hear.

“Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere, 19, threw a fit when she was kicked out of a 21+ club in upstate New York just before Christmas. A bodyguard spotted her watching the Jon Turco Band and thought she looked underage, so he checked her ID. Sure enough she was tossed from the club and had her fake ID confiscated, per state regulation.

Now for the best part: Hayden was so angry her ID was taken she called the cops on herself to try and get it back. The police showed up, got her card from the club and gave it back to her! Seriously!

That's beyond special treatment, the cops basically helped her break the law. Maybe the stars AREN’T just like us.

Stop crying cause it makes it sound like your jealous,I was getting into 21 and up clubs when I was 16 and yes I would have thrown a fit had I been kicked out, and my ID was taken. That is what teens do in general, she was upset cause she got caught, not cause she is a celeb. Why the cops gave it back to her is on them, maybe they thougt she was hot. Would you be whining if you got pulled over for a speeding ticket and the cop let you off cause you were cute, would you insist he write you a ticket because you broke the law. I think not, you would probably be happy and tell all your friends how the cop let you off. So why do we judge these young stars that are just experiencing life, doing the same things most of have tried at one time in our lives. They are human beings you know, not robots.

Wendy is right...I think this has more to do with her being a young, attractive female than a celeb. My friends and I used to get away with crap like that and MORE because we were cute. Especially with cops...they are only human, after all. At least the club threw her out for being underage!

You know what? The only thing that pisses me off about this is that the cops gave her back her ID. Everything else doesn't bug me because, yeah, I was doing the same things when I was her age but I sure as hell wouldn't expect the cops to give me back my ID. I just think it was bratty to assume that they would...what happened to have some modesty people?!

The other stories I read on this did not say the ID was fake. Perhaps it was her real ID, which would make sense as to why she was booted from the club so quickly?

ugh FINALLY! Someone has addressed this issue. I seriously don't understand why teen celebrities believe they are above the law. Yes true, because of their status they do generate publicity for businesses but what kind of message are we sending kids? "Hey kids! Become famous and you can get away with anything!" Come on now

What I don't understand is why the US still has a drinking age of 21. They are the only country that I know that has a drinking age over 20. In most of Europe, you can drink at 17 or 18. In Canada the oldest in the provinces is 19 but some of them are 18. Maybe if the age was changed, there would be less issues with underage drinking. I can remember going to the States when I was 20 and forgetting that you had to be 21 to drink, and being right indignant that I couldn't get a glass of wine with dinner when I had been legally drinking in my province for 2 years.

Teens in general think they're above the law. I was the same way at that age....and most people are/were.

Why should celebs be above the law just because they have money and Fame? where could this road take us? will celebs soon be able to get away with theft, or worse? will we allow them to be citizens of the US without the responsablilties? Why should they be allowed to break the law w/o punishment? besides, hayden is a celeb. anyone would now that she;s too young, they shouldn't have even had to card her

I agree TEENS, CELEBS in general think they are above the law. She should have been thrown out once caught BUT her fake ID should have NEVER been given back to her. Places should SHRED fake id's.
