So my question is, why is God hiding in the shadows today? Why was he so flashy before, but now He seems content with doing things that could be explained by coincidence or random chance? Is God shy? Does he not like that we created cameras and sound recording devices?

Report AbuseDidn't you already post this same question in a previous blog? Still searching for God?

Report AbuseNo Harley, although I did ask a question about Jesus which was a similar kind of question.
What I am searching for is someone who can give a thoughtful answer. Are you up to the challenge?

Report AbuseI think God did not do suck works back in the biblical days as opposed to now because as everyone knows people back then were more stupid and superstitious than they are now, hell, look at Salem Massachusetts as an example (people burning people at the stake for being "witches", on a mere "finger point"), hell they even thought the earth was FLAT!!!!
can you believe that nonsense??!!
How do we know these things happened?
maybe the "booming voice" was thunder hmmm?
or the "raining down fire on cities" perhaps a meteor shower?
I think the HUMAN RACE was SOOOOOOOOOO PRIMITIVE long ago, that they did NOT have a scientific explanation as to WHY things happened, so they said it was God plain and simple.

Report AbuseGod has died because of the filth he created called human beings.

Report AbuseV, thanks for replying, but this question is for people who believe that God did flashy back in the day. I am interested in hearing their reasons for why nothing like that at all happens today.

Report AbuseBecause maybe the Human race is just so damned evil and corrupt, we just aren't worthy of seeing any miracles.

Report Abusealso, looking at this question again and you saying you want peoples reasons as to why nothing like that happens today, I want to stand by my original comment, how do we even KNOW that those things happened back then?
they probably did not happen at all, like I said, people back then probably heard THUNDER and said "that was god's voice" or saw a meteor shower destroy a city and said "thats the hand of god" rather than the scientific reason of a meteor entering the Earth's atmosphere and breaking up into pieces and a city just happen to be in it's path
you see what I am saying?

Report Abuse"I want to stand by my original comment, how do we even KNOW that those things happened back then?"
Well the short answer is, we don't. We have stories in a book. But there are lots of books with lots of stories. Don't see why people would believe one batch of stories and not the others.
Your original comment is fine, but it side steps my question. Assuming flashy stuff was done by God in the past (I don't assume this but many theists do) why isn't it done now? Your other comment, about us not being worthy, answers my question. Of course, that raises another question - why is god making it harder for people to believe in him? Back in the day, he was real showy, his obvious power was on display for thousands upon thousands. Now, nothing.

Report Abuse"Don't see why people would believe one batch of stories and not the others."--I think that people believe THIS batch of stories because it was "supposedly" documented as "eye witness accounts", but like I said, people of the period were prone to be superstitious and gullible
"Assuming flashy stuff was done by God in the past (I don't assume this but many theists do) why isn't it done now?"--probably because God does not exist, but we dare not believe that, or risk eternal damnation (or at least that's what they tell us)
