Everything you have heard, felt, tasted, seen or smelled and every experience you have had, are a part of what and who you are. No one else can lay claim to a tiny part of the uniqueness that is you. Some people claim that they would like to have a clone of themselves. It will never happen. Sure, they could have a physical duplicate, but that is all, because it would be impossible to duplicate their lives. The clone would have it’s own collection of experiences and therefore wouldn’t think, act, or feel like the person he/she was cloned from.
Whether you write a tribute to your grandmother -She lived ... here are some stories about her life and her recipes - or about your children, friends, husband, mother, father, etc., write from your unique personal perspective.
Write for your enjoyment and satisfaction. Whether it be fiction or non-fiction, write because you want to. You have a story to tell ... tell it in your way, with no concern at this time, about whether it will be published or not. The hardest part is getting it written down, without any additional stress, the rest will fall into place.

Report AbuseFINALLY! Some good, solid advice from a terrific author. I write because I *have* to write. I can see where the lack of pressure to be a published author contributes to the quality of my writing. Perhaps someday I will publish ... maybe or maybe not. One thing I do know is that my work will be unique and from my perspective.
